ANDREW CHARLES DROLLINGER

Posted

JULY 11, 1954-JANUARY 25, 2025

Andrew Charles Drollinger was born at French Hospital in Manhattan, NY on July 11, 1954, to Laura Mary (Tardi) and George Andrew Drollinger Jr., the second of three children. He grew up in the family home at Cochecton Center, NY, graduating from Narrowsburg Central School in 1972.

An unconventional athlete, “Drew” discovered Alpine skiing in his teen years, enjoying the daredevil aspects of the sport. Long before extreme skiing went mainstream, he was catching air in the only way he knew, earning him a second nickname, “Mogul Master.”

After attending Sullivan County Community College, Drew worked as a carpenter with D&G Builders, the custom home-building business his father co-founded with partner Carl Grund Jr. Drew later became a truck driver, transporting commercial refrigeration units and propane. However, his wide-ranging interests and abilities led to an ongoing second career of side hustles. He sold Amway, Tupperware and Generac. He ran a video business that recorded memorable family events (births, weddings and anniversary parties) as well as public theatrical performances. He tended horses at a stud farm.
Hospitality was Drew’s lifelong hobby. A garage he designed and built for his Ferndale house is remembered by family, friends and neighbors as a venue for summer parties. Fall and winter parties were held in the finished basement.

Following his retirement, Drew sold that house and bought an RV, intending to travel around the U.S. His first stop was at a campground in Athens, TN, near the entrance to Great Smokey National Park. There he spent the rest of his life.

Predeceased by son Justin Drollinger in 1984, survivors include two sisters: Linda Drollinger of Lake Huntington, NY and Nancy Krasinski of Houston, TX; two daughters: Jessica Luster of Montgomery, AL and Andrea Sullivan of Miller Place, NY; five grandchildren: Keller and Deven Collier, and Alexander and Savanna Myers—all of Montgomery, AL—and Claire Sullivan of Miller Place, NY; and three great-grandchildren: Lakeleigh, Harleigh and Maclain Collier of Montgomery, AL.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Narrowsburg, NY on March 16. Drew will be interred beside his son in Laurel Cemetery, Cochecton Center, NY.

Memorial donations can be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at PO Box 74, Narrowsburg, NY 12764.
