MONTGOMERY, NY — On Friday, June 28, Sullivan County Deputy Sheriff Kyle Farrand and his K-9 partner “Country,” graduated from the Orange County Sheriff’s K-9 Academy.
The graduation ceremony was the culmination of 16 weeks of intensive training for the basic K-9 Patrol school. Sheriff Mike Schiff and Undersheriff Eric Chaboty attended the graduation along with Deputy Farrand’s family. K-9 “Country” is named after Sheriff’s Corporal Kyle “Big Country” Muthig, who passed away suddenly last September. Deputy Farrand and K-9 “Country” will now go on patrol for the summer and eventually be assigned to a narcotics detection school in the fall.
