The Delaware Company would like to express our sincere gratitude to all who attended our Patriots and Loyalists event at Fort Delaware Museum of Colonial History on Saturday, July 13. It was a beautiful day and a terrific, educational and fun event.
We would like to especially thank U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand for her eloquent letter of congratulations and support, and New York State Sen. Peter Oberacker and his aide Camille O’Brien for their attendance at the event and their continued support of The Delaware Company and our mission.
Congratulations once again to both Elsie Kopcha and the Cochecton Preservation Society, the recipients of the James W. Burbank Memorial Award and The Delaware Company President’s Award respectively. We were thrilled that James W. Burbank’s daughter, Peggy McIntyre; two of his granddaughters; and a great-grandson were able to attend. Mr. Burbank was Sullivan County Historian from 1948 to 1954, and was the founder of Fort Delaware Museum, which he opened in 1957.
