HONESDALE, PA — It takes a special slice to win over the discerning readers of the River Reporter—and that’s what you’ll find at Two Guys from Italy, the restaurant and pizzeria that took home the coveted Best Pizzeria title in the paper’s 2024 Best awards.
The slicehouse lives between an Asian buffet and a Cricket Wireless store in the plaza off Route 6 in Honesdale. It’s an unassuming exterior, with a glowing sign that’s more a dull beige than a bright white, but the inside is anything but, done out like an Italian bistro with pictures of pizza lovers (and accolades from the readers of the Wayne Independent) hanging in the entryway.
When your correspondent stopped in on a cold winter evening, their basic cheese slice had cheese that was nice and gooey (but not so liquid it lacked all substance), a crust that was nice and crispy (though not rigid or stale), and tomato sauce that was nice and flavorsome. Their Hawaiian slice had another round of excellent cheese, topped with wholesome pineapple and ham, and while each slice felt filling enough for a meal, the slices weren’t heavy enough to make eating more than one a chore.
All in all, a bright place for a bite on a snowy winter’s night.
