MILFORD, PA — Trumpet player Joseph Boga will bring the big, brassy sound of the Joseph Boga Nonet to the Delaware Valley High School (DVHS) on April 27. The performance begins at 7 p.m. in the DVHS auditorium, 256 U.S. Route 6. The concert will be a forerunner to Kindred Spirits Arts Programs’ regular season; admission will be free.
Some of the numbers at this performance will include the DVHS Jazz Combo, for whom Boga and his band will have led a workshop. The Nonet will also perform for students the morning of the 27th. The evening concert will include both big band swing and alternative jazz styles, as befits a musician with Boga’s background.
Boga has performed with Wynton Marsalis (with whom he has studied), Wycliffe Gordon, Vince Giordano and the Night Hawks, Phil Woods, Rick Chamberlain and the Avalon Jazz Band. He has also played classical music with numerous groups, including the New York Trumpet Ensemble led by Mark Gould.
