Seniors adopt a family

HONESDALE, PA — Members of the Honesdale senior center, seen here, and members of the Hawley center recently adopted a family through the Wayne County Children’s Christmas Bureau (WCCCB). This year, 651 children were able to receive gifts for Christmas through the generosity of many groups, individuals and businesses. The WCCCB runs solely on donations.

Hogs help out Head Start

WURTSBORO, NY — Santa, aka Jason Parks of the Wurtsboro Chapter of the Hogs Motorcycle Club, presents children with presents at O’Toole’s Harley-Davidson’s annual holiday party held on December 4, courtesy of Kohl’s Distribution Center. It is the 26th year for the event, which benefits Head Start. Joining the Hogs this year were two other clubs, the Defiant Crew of Orange County and the Latin American Motorcycle Association of Westchester County.  Read more

Holiday donations double at food pantry

The Narrowsburg Ecumenical Food Pantry is still looking for donations for the holiday season, after having received donations for Thanksgiving that were almost doubled from 2010, even in these hard economic times. Emily Grillo of the food pantry said, “I feel blessed to live in an area where people give so generously to others who are in need.” To make a donation of food or money call 570/729-4038.

Rotary helps local food pantries

PORT JERVIS, NY — Every year during the holiday season, the Port Jervis Rotary Club, along with many other community service groups, collects food donations for the local food pantries. The local church food pantries as well as Easter Seals Project Discovery need help to keep up with demand in this economy and appreciate any donation that you are able to make.
