Sullivan West’s senior gridiron homecoming

LAKE HUNTINGTON, NY — Before the opening kickoff of Thursday’s night’s football game between the Blue Devils and the Hambleltonians of Chester Academy on September 28, the Sullivan West student council sponsored an annual rite of passage: the recognition of the senior football players, the introduction of the Homecoming Court, and the crowning of the king and queen.

The football squad was joined by their respective parents who took center stage on the 50-yard line: Daniel Clancy, Josh Evans, Toby Fagan, Jason Gorr, Collin Hauschild, Shaine Hubert, Desmond Lambe, Noah Steele and Jeramy VanSickle.

In short order, the Homecoming Court of 2017 consisting of five male student athletes and an equal number of female student athletes was introduced: Collin Hauschild, Michael Mullally, AJ Lumalcuri, Alex Schwalb and Alex Unser, along with Sydney Favre, Nicole Kocher, Jordan Kubenik, Kendra LaBagh and Emma Moran.

At the conclusion of the event, Emma Moran was crowned Queen of the Court, while AJ Lumalcuri was crowned king.

“It’s a chance for us to honor the senior athletes, and for the students a chance to honor their parents”, said Debbie Molusky, student council advisor.
