Golden glow

Sullivan West’s Drew Billard made it to states with his fifth-place finish at the Section 9 Alpine Ski Championships despite skiing with his fractured wrist in a cast.

SULLIVAN COUNTY, NY — For a couple of area teams and individual athletes, this past week proved that there is indeed gold at the end of the rainbow. At the Sullivan County Indoor Track Championships held at Sullivan County Community College on February 13, Tri-Valley won both the girls and boys crowns. The Lady Bears outpointed Sullivan West 137-66 to defend their title from a year ago. The T-V boys bested second-place Liberty 103-76 to unseat defending champion Ellenville.

Girls winners included: 55 hurdles, Vicky Tingley (TV), 9.44; 300, Tania Walker (Mont), 44.68; 600, Rebeccah Harman (Lib), 1:45.2; 1,000, Autumn Bender (TV), 3:28.5; 1,500, Autumn Bender (TV), 5:37.5; 3,000, Bender (TV), 11:53.1; 800 relay, Liberty 1:58.8; 1,600 relay, Sullivan West, 4:28.4; 3,200 relay, Tri-Valley 11:28.2; Shot put, Dominique Darby (TV), 33-6; High jump, Erika Bowring (Eld), 4-8. Boys, 55 hurdles, Adrian Krzysztofowicz (Eld), 8.22; 300, Tino Taylor (Mont), 38.59; 600, Taylor (Mont), 1:31.5; 1,000, Jimmy Bernstein (TV), 2:52.9; 1,600, Bernstein (TV), 4:57; 3,200, Reed Scott (SW), 10:37.4; 800 relay, Monticello 1:40.7; 1,600 relay, Eldred 3:48; 3,200 relay, Tri-Valley 9:01.4; High jump, Mitch Paciga (SW), 5-6; Shot put, Garrett Lapolt (Mont), 50-3.25.
