League intrigue

Tri-Valley freshman Caroline Martin (above) scores two of her game-high 16 points as Fallsburg’s Shanice Macke defends. The undefeated Lady Bears downed Fallsburg 64-39 in a Division V clash this past week. Earlier, Tri-Valley beat Tuxedo on the road, completing a road sweep of Orange County teams that featured victories over Chester and S.S. Seward.

In indoor track, current Section 9 leaders include 3200, Tri-Valley’s Jim Bernstein (10.01.54); 1500, Autumn Bender (5:11.92); shot put Mareena DiMilia (38-11.75); and 1600, Eldred’s Alex Campanella (4:21.82). Campanella ran a 4:26.84 in the mile at the Millrose Game Trials, placing 16th. That followed a fifth-place finish at the Hispanic Games at the Armory with a personal best time of 4:23.35. Tri-Valley’s Dominique Darby qualified for this year’s Millrose Games with her weight throw of 47-1. Action continues apace in all winter sports this week.
