GREENTOWN, PA — On Saturday, June 8, Promised Land State Park staff and the Leave-No-Trace Traveling Trainers from Boulder, CO will host a daylong series of programs.
From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., meet the visiting Leave-No-Trace trainers and park staff at the tables near the food concession in the Day Use Area.
Introduction to Kayaking Session 1 will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Day Use Beach Area, and Session 2 from 2 to 3 p.m. Usage fee is $5 to borrow the park’s kayaks, or bring your own kayak or canoe. Join Carissa Longo, environmental education specialist, to learn how to paddle.
A Leave-No-Trace Interpretive Hike on Conservation Island is from 4 to 5 p.m. leaving from the Conservation Island parking area. Learn the principles of Leave No Trace and how they apply to hiking and camping. This interpretive hike is free and open to all.
Introduction to Green Camping is from 6 to 7 p.m. at the outdoor amphitheater. Join the park naturalist for an interactive approach to reducing your impact when you camp. Play some games, try out some new eco-friendly camping products and learn some techniques to green your campsite.
