NARROWSBURG, NY — Madeleine Wootan of the Town of Tusten, NY, poses with the rain barrel that she won in a drawing she entered as part of the Pike-Wayne Conservation Partnership’s series of programs titled “Clean Water-Healthy Communities.” The barrel was donated by Honesdale Agway. Wootan attended a May 15 workshop on rain barrels that was held at the PPL Environmental Learning Center in Hawley, PA. Rain barrels capture and store roof water runoff when it rains and allow the homeowner to use the stored water later.
The “Clean Water-Healthy Communities” campaign kicked off at the April 21 Pike-Wayne Earth Day celebration and ran until the Wally Lake Fest held the weekend of August 24. Each program provided an opportunity to learn how the water supply supports the community.
