Francis Joseph “Frankie” Kacer Jr. of Waymart, PA died Thursday, November 10, 2011 at the Marian Community Hospital, Carbondale, PA. He was 65.
His wife is the former Liddie Horst Bortree.
Born in Carbondale, he was the son of the late Frank and Mae McDonnell Kacer.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Church, Waymart and its Holy Name Society.
He was a 1964 graduate of St. Rose High School, Carbondale. He was a grocer with Kacer’s Market in Waymart. He was a member of the Pennsylvania Association of Meat Processors; the Lions Club of Waymart; the Knights of Columbus Carbondale Council 329 where he as a 4th degree knight and a former grand knight; a member of the Waymart Bicentennial Committee; and a former member of the Waymart Ambulance Corps.
He took pride in his family and his grandchildren.
Also surviving are daughters Karen Watson and her daughter Emma of Lansdale, PA, Christine Notchick and her daughters Rachael and Lauren of Honesdale, PA, Susan Davis and her sons Kyle and Matthew of Honesdale; step children Joann Ostrander of Honesdale, Ronald Bortree of Beach Lake, PA and Edward Bortree of Jermyn, PA; step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; sister Mary Andzulis and husband John of Pittstown, NJ; brother Michael Kacer of Waymart, PA; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral was Monday, November 14 at the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home, Inc. with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary’s Church, Waymart to be celebrated by Rev. Joseph S. Sitko. Interment was at Holy Trinity Cemetery, Simpson, PA.
