Jean Mackenzie Rickard of Cherry Ridge, PA died early Sunday, May 9 at her family farm outside Honesdale, PA. She was 90 years old.

She was an executive secretary at the Ortho Pharmaceutical Company when she was introduced to her future husband Louis F. Rickard on an outing in Pike County in the late 1940s. Mrs. Rickard left Ortho to help manage the six-generation family dairy farm, including the well-known Rickard’s Cider Mill.

Rickard, Honesdale; two daughters, Susan R. Henry, Beach Lake, PA; and Nancy R. Kinsman, Honesdale; 11 grandchildren, and one great grandchild, Dylan Louis McDonough.

She was very proud of her transformation from executive secretary to farmer’s wife, raising a family, instilling in them the value of hard work and education, and helping work and run the family farm. Her first ambition and primary goal in life was to her family.
