ALBANY, NY — The New York Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) has announced the availability of approximately $13.8 million in incentives to encourage the installation of wind energy systems for residential, commercial, institutional, or government use.
The incentives, of up to $400,000 per site, will be paid to eligible installers who install new approved grid-connected wind energy systems using qualified equipment. The maximum equipment size shall be two megawatts per site. Under terms of the program, the NYSERDA incentive may not exceed 50% of the total cost of the system. Applications will be accepted through December 31, 2015 or until funds are fully committed.
Stephen Stuart of Sullivan Alliance for Sustainable Development said the grant may be a good fit for a wind project proposed for the human services building complex in Liberty.
