November 16, 2011 —
Due to a very tight New York State Supreme Court race for the third judicial district, which the state has given a priority to resolving, the counting of absentee ballots for town races in Sullivan County has been delayed from Wednesday, November 16 to Tuesday, November 22 at 10 a.m.
Absentee ballots will be opened, starting alphabetically by town name, starting at 10 a.m. on Friday, November 18, but only the votes for the state Supreme Court judge will be counted at that time. However, if any ballots are to be challenged, that must be done before they are opened on Friday. Accordingly, candidates who wish to challenge are being advised to come and inspect the ballots at the board of election offices in the Government Center on Friday.
The opened ballots will be reviewed to tally the votes for town and county offices on November 22.
