July 28, 2014 —
Monticello Police Chief Robert Mir announced today that the skeletal remains found on June 10, 2014, in a wooded area located behind the Sleepy Hollow Apartments Complex in the Village of Monticello have been positively identified, by DNA tests performed at the New York State Police Crime Laboratory, as the remains of April Parker, 31, of Terry Lane, Monticello, N.Y. An autopsy conducted has determined that Parker’s death was a homicide.
Police are continuing their investigation into Ms. Parker’s homicide and do not believe that she was the victim of a random act of violence. Parker was reported missing on May 26, 2014, when police began their current investigation. The New York State Police and the Sullivan County District Attorney Office are assisting Monticello Police in the investigation.
