September 25, 2013 —
On September 23, Honesdale Borough Police arrested 22 year old Mark Delade of Dingmans Ferry, and a 17 year old female juvenile from Honesdale. The arrests stem from a three week long investigation of three residential burglaries, and at least five thefts from motor vehicles.
During the investigation it was found that Delade and the female were breaking into homes and cars in the Ridge Street area. In most cases only money was taken from the victims.
Delade and the juvenile female were arrested without incident at a home on Russell Street in Honesdale Borough. Delade was also wanted on an outstanding warrant from PA State Police at Honesdale,
Delade will be charged with 3 counts of Felony Burglary, Theft, Receiving Stolen Property, Theft from a Motor Vehicle, Possession of Heroin related Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of a Controlled Substance. Delade is currently incarcerated in the Wayne County Correctional Facility on the warrant obtained by PSP Honesdale.
The 17 year old female was charged with 3 counts of Felony Burglary, Theft from a Motor Vehicle, and Possession of Heroin related Drug Paraphernalia. The female was charged as a juvenile and taken into custody by Wayne County Juvenile Probation and placed into a detention facility.
Many hours were spent on the case, and every officer of the Honesdale Police Department has had some part of this ongoing investigation. As Acting Chief I would like to thank all the members of The Honesdale Police Department in bringing this case to a close, and serving justice to the victims.
If anyone has had a home burglarized or a car broken into in the Ridge Street area and have not contacted police, you are urged to do so as soon as possible.
Police would also like to remind all residents of Honesdale to please lock your homes and vehicles in an attempt to prevent these types of crimes.
