February 14, 2012 —
On 02/07/2012 the Honesdale Borough Police Department was contacted by 69 year old Joseph McCaffery of Lake Ariel. McCaffery reported a hit and run involving his vehicle in the 700 Block of Main Street.
An investigation revealed that no collision or hit and run had occurred in the 700 Block of Main Street.
Through this investigation it was discovered that McCaffery damaged his truck at his home, and made up the story about the hit and run.
A misdemeanor charge of False Reports to Law Enforcement Authorities was filed against McCaffery.
