The Pennsylvania State Police advise residents to be wary of telephone calls from an individual who says he is a representative of Experian Credit Company.
He informs the victim of an interest reduction program, and has your credit card number and balance of the card. He requests verification of the expiration date of the card. This information is needed to complete the transaction, which is the scam.
The individual is attempting to scam $3,000, and is possibly targeting senior citizens.
Please remember not to give any personal information or credit account information over the phone. If you are suspicious of the call, hang up and call the bank or company back yourself. Do not trust a telephone number that they might supply to you for the return call.
If you have recieved such a call or one similar in nature, be sure to report it to the Attorney Generals office via the internet at http://www.attorneygeneral.gov and follow the prompts for complaints, then consumer complaint forms.
