September 11, 2013 —
I had a busy weekend with volunteering.
First, I helped out at the Hortonville Pancake Breakfast—a fundraiser for the Grover Herrmann Hospital Auxiliary. Hortonville has many special people who donated their time to help the auxiliary raise money for much needed hospital equipment. The auxiliary would like to give a big “thank you” to everyone who helped make it a great success. Also, save the date Saturday, September 21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., when Catskill Regional Medical Center (CRMC) Grover Herrmann Hospital (8881 Rte. 97 Callicoon, NY) will host a fall fair, complete with a bake sale, raffles and refreshments for sale. Antique cars are also welcomed. Space is still available for individuals and vendors; just give Dottie a call at 845/932-8487.
After breakfast, I went to Eldred and helped out at the St. Baldrick’s fundraiser. Lou Monteleone and his family worked so hard to put on this great event. This year, 38 states were involved. Eldred had 12 people shave their heads, and they raised over $10,000 (and still counting). God bless all who came out to help fight childhood cancer.
On Sunday, September 22, starting at 2 p.m., the Cochecton Preservation Society will host “Coffee, Tea and History,” a free event open to the public. The theme, “Growing up in schools of Cochecton,” will cover the ‘30s to the ‘70s. Speakers will be Helene Indelicato, Gary Maas, Bill Grund and Art Hassis, with the always effervescent Jerry Yavarkovsky as emcee. Come out and hear what life was like for local families way back when; local descendants are invited to share even more details from the audience. Come out and meet many of your neighbors. We always end up having a pleasant and entertaining visit at the train station on Rte. 97. All aboard! Refreshments will be served. For information, call 845/932-8104.
Cochecton’s own Dana Grisafe is now down working in Narrowsburg at Coffee Creations, so stop by and let her get your day started with a cup of hot coffee.
Have a great week and email email@example.com or call 845/252-3568 if you have any news.
