BETHEL, NY — The Stray Cat Gallery’s next show, “A Landscape Meditation,” features the work of two local artists who are expert in capturing the rural beauty and ambiance of their surroundings. There will be an opening reception on Saturday, October 26 from 4 to 7 p.m.
After retiring from the corporate world, local artist Caroline Harrow now spends her time depicting old barns and nature scenes in realistic watercolors. Her limited, muted color palette has often been compared to Wyeth. Artist Teegan Kennedy, like Harrow, focuses on rural landscapes, including especially the Hudson Valley and Bethel, where she maintains a studio in a barn on her property. In the barns, lakes, even the utility roles lining the sides of the country roads, she attempts to capture the quiet of what she sees, the peace and stillness, and the essence of the light.
The show runs from Friday, October 25 through Wednesday, November 6. Gallery hours are Friday, 11 to 6 p.m., Saturday 10 to 7 p.m. and Sunday 10 to 5 p.m., or call 845/583-3141 for an appointment. Visit www.straycatgallery.com .
