NARROWSBURG, NY — “Nature’s Will/Material Will,” an exhibit of installation and prints by Robin Dintiman, will open with a reception on Friday, September 7 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Delaware Arts Center’s Alliance Gallery at 37 Main St. Dintiman will lead an artist’s talk on Saturday, September 8 at 2 p.m. at the gallery. The exhibit will be on view through September 29, 2012.
Whether she is working directly with objects found in nature in her sculptures, or taking nature as her subject in her prints, Dintiman captures the intimate, emotional quality of natural settings through her photogravures, etchings, collographs and sculptures. For “Nature’s Will/Material Will,” Dintiman created organic sculptures comprised of twigs, branches and urethane foam. “When working on sculpture, a material’s will and my decision making create a product reflecting the process of these two issues,” Dintiman said. “If I am not vigilant, the form slides from beauty into a sloppy mess.”
Dintiman’s work has been exhibited in museums throughout the country. It is in the collections of the Philadelphia Art Museum, the National Museum for Women in the Arts, the Arkansas Art Center and the Chrysler Museum.
Hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visit www.ArtsAllianceSite.org or call 845/252-7576.
