SOUTH FALLSBURG, NY — “The Producers,” the musical created on the basis of the Mel Brooks classic, hits the boards at the Rivoli Theatre in South Fallsburg for six performances from August 10 through 19, presented by the Sullivan County Dramatic Workshop (SCDW).
“Under the right circumstances, a producer could make more money with a flop than he could with a hit,” muses accountant Leo Bloom to theatrical producer Max Bialystock. And so hatches the scheme that’s the basis of the show. Brooks’ hugely successful 1968 film version was turned into a Broadway musical in the late ‘90s that went on to win 12 Tony Awards. “The Producers” is being staged by special arrangement with Music Theatre International, Inc.
Performances of “The Producers” will be held in the Nartoff-Wells Auditorium of the Rivoli Theatre at 5243 Main St. (Route 42) on Friday and Saturday, August 10, 11, 17 and 18 at 8 p.m., and Sunday, August 12 and 19 at 2 p.m.
Tickets cost $18 for adults, $15 for senior citizens and $10 for students with a valid student ID. Attend any Friday performance, set your own price and pay what you can ($5 minimum). Advance sales available online at www.ShowTix4U.com , or purchase tickets at the box office starting one hour prior to curtain for any performance. Visit www.scdw.net or call 845/436-5336.
