HURLEYVILLE, NY — The Sullivan County Historical Society and The Sullivan County Dramatic Workshop will present “Vaudeville in the Catskills” on Saturday, March 31 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, April 1 at 2 p.m. at The Sullivan County Museum and Cultural Center, 265 Main Street.
The show is an invitation to step back in time and experience what vaudeville was like, back before TV and film took over. There will be an unusual 10-piece music ensemble called the Hurleyville Ukulele Orchestra; acts reminiscent of vaudeville’s variety, with actors portraying legendary performers such as Abbott & Costello, Sophie Tucker and Harpo Marx; and a melodrama performed by members of the Sullivan County Dramatic Workshop.
The production is directed and produced by Victoria V. Leighton, and is sponsored by and made possible, in part, with funds from the 2012 Decentralization Program, administered by the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance.
The suggested donation is $15 and include hors d’oeuvres and desserts. Proceeds benefit The Sullivan County Historical Society and The Sullivan County Dramatic Workshop. Call 845/434-8044 or 436-5336.
