HONESDALE, PA — Grace Episcopal Church will offer a free dinner at 12 noon on Christmas Day to all in the community, a festive holiday dinner with all the trimmings that is offered every year.
Thirty years ago, a priest of the Church was approached by travelers and was asked if he knew of a restaurant open where they could enjoy the holiday meal. Sadly, he said no, there wasn’t any establishment open for business. The next year was the first Thanksgiving Together at Grace Episcopal Church, which has now expanded to Christmas and New Year’s Day, and even grown into a weekly community luncheon every Saturday. The New Year’s Day luncheon will also be at 12 noon.
The Christmas and New Year’s services will be preceded by a service of Holy Communion in the church at 11 a.m.
No reservations are necessary. Volunteers from the community are welcome to prepare and serve the dinner. Call 570/253-2760.
