HIGHLAND LAKE, NY — Agrarian Acts, a contemporary county fair and production celebrating the ideas, enterprise and creative work of a new generation of farmers, will be held on Sunday, September 25 from 12 noon to 5 p.m., at NACL Theatre, 110 Highland Lake Rd.
The day kicks off at noon with a locavore potluck lunch in association with Northeast Organic Farming Association’s day of local eating. Please bring along a dish (prepared with local food) to share. Following the community lunch, attendees can view performances, participate in workshops, hear soapbox speakers, pet pigs, share produce at a crop swap (bring along your extra garden veggies or fruit to swap) and participate in a lettuce-eating contest. Featured performances will include a screening of the new documentary film “The Greenhorns,” about the struggle and valor of young farmers in America; the stage adaptation of the children’s story “Cornplosion!” by Carly and Scott Sell; “The Vagabond’s Vaudeville,” a play about the life of poet and rambler Vachel Lindsay by Charlie Traeger; and live performances by NACL.
