HONESDALE, PA — The body of George Julian Rymko has been identified after last being seen in 2011. According to the National Missing Persons Data System, Rymko was last seen on January 22, 2011 in Scranton. On February 2, 2011, Rymko's vehicle was discovered at a truck stop near Gouldsboro.

On April 28, 2015, Wayne County Coroner Edward Howell was dispatched to a wooded area near 827 Main Street, Gouldsboro. Howell met the Pennsylvania State Police at the scene, and examined a human skull which had been discovered by hunters who alerted authorities.

On December 11 of this year Howell reviewed a DNA Comparison Report for Human Identification. The human skull was further examined by a forensic anthropologist who obtained a DNA sample from the specimen and confirmed that no trauma was sustained by the skull.

A blood relative of Rymko also submitted a DNA sample for comparison testing to the DNA of the skull.  The result of this comparison yielded a positive match.

Howell has issued a certificate of death naming George Julian Rymko as the positive identity of the human skull. This action officially declares him deceased. Due to the lack of further evidence (no other human remains of Rymko's have been discovered to date), the cause and manner of death have been ruled undetermined.

Rymko’s age was determined to be 49 at the time of his disappearance.
