Clifton Park man arrested for robbery

State Police at Catskill arrested David B Pruiksma, age 29, of Clifton Park, NY, for Robbery in the First Degree, a class B Felony, Menacing a Police Officer, a class D Felony, Resisting Arrest, a class A misdemeanor, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree, a class A misdemeanor and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree, a class A misdemeanor. 

The arrest was the result of an incident that occurred at the Stewart's shop in the Village of Athens in the early afternoon on October 20, 2016.  Pruiksma stole an alcoholic beverage from within the Stewarts shop and exited the store followed by an employee. The employee confronted Pruiksma about the theft as a Trooper from the Catskill barracks arrived on the scene. Pruiksma brandished a knife and attempted to flee the area.  The Trooper caught Pruiksma who began physically resisting the arrest. Two passers-by assisted the Trooper in taking Pruiksma into custody. Pruiksma was additionally found in possession of a second knife and a small amount of concentrated cannabis.   

  Pruiksma was arraigned before Town Justice Connie Pazin in the Town of Athens court and was remanded to the Greene County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail/ $100,000 bond to return on November 11, 2016.
