The Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) continue to investigate the shooting incident at the Blooming Grove station where two Pennsylvania State Police troopers were ambushed by Eric Matthew Frein.

“As I’ve indicated in the past, our search area is determined by the information available to us at any given point in time,” said Lt. Col. George Bivens, deputy commissioner of operations. “The search area remains focused within several square miles near the Pike/Monroe border.”  Read more

Manhunt puts hunting season on hold

The Pennsylvania Game Commission has temporarily closed all hunting and trapping seasons within seven townships in northeastern Pennsylvania, where the search continues for a fugitive wanted in the shooting death of a state police trooper.  Read more

Loch Sheldrake man arrested for child rape

On September 26, 2014 State Police at Liberty and the Sullivan County Family Violence Response Team arrested Tyrone Chaneyfield, age 48 of Loch Sheldrake, NY for subjecting a child under the age of 13 to sexual contact over the course of a three year period.

Chaneyfield was charged with Rape in the First Degree and Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child in the First Degree, felonies. Chaneyfield was arraigned in the Village of Monticello Court and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail with no bail set.

Middletown man arrested for selling heroin in Sullivan

The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Gang and Narcotics Intelligence Unit has arrested a Middletown man after a 5 month investigation into heroin and crack cocaine sales in the Towns of Fallsburg and Thompson.  Read more

Mongaup Valley man arrested for DWI

State Police at SP Wurtsboro announce the arrest of Thomas M. Strang, 26, of Mongaup Valley, New York. Troopers stopped Mr. Strang in a 1997 Dodge Van, for an inoperable license plate lamp, on Anawana Lake Road in the town of Thompson. While interviewing Strang and odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected. Field sobriety tests were administered and subsequently failed. Mr. Strang was placed under arrest and processed at the Wurtsboro barracks where a breath test was given, resulting in a BAC of .20%.  Read more

On September 25, 2014, State Police in Middletown arrested Lysa M. Mercado-Gonzalez, age 43, of Middletown, NY, for Grand Larceny in the third degree, five counts of Possession of a Forged Instrument in the second degree, and Falsifying Business Records in the first degree.  Read more

Blooming Grove – The Pennsylvania State Police are continuing their investigation into the shooting incident that occurred at the Blooming Grove station where two Pennsylvania State Police troopers were ambushed by Eric Matthew Frein.

Governor Tom Corbett and State Police Commissioner Frank Noonan are closely monitoring this investigation – and the Governor has made all commonwealth resources available for this investigation as needed.  Read more

Shohola petty thief apprehended

At an unspecified time during the night or early morning hours of September 15-16, Christopher Herrera of Happy Hollow, Shohola Township was caught red-handed attempting to remove money from at least three different vehicles in the Walker Lake area of the township.  Read more

The Delaware Valley School District has added extra security.

Students in the Eldred and Sullivan West districts in New York were not being allowed out of the buildings for outdoor activities.

Suspect’s family-friends not shocked at accusation; Police: ‘there is a very dangerous armed individual out there.’

People who know sniper suspect Eric Matthew Frein “weren’t shocked,” when interviewed by police investigating the Sept. 12 shooting of two Pennsylvania State Police troopers, PSP spokesman, Trooper Tom Kelly reported Wednesday. Frein was said to have posted comments revealing his hatred of police on his Facebook page.  Read more
