State Police Montgomery arreste man on gun and impersonation charges

On May 21, 2014, the State Police in Montgomery in conjunction with the State Police on Long Island, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Orange County District Attorney's Office arrested Richard J DeRosa, age 41, of Bellmore, New York for the felonies of criminal possession of a firearm and criminal impersonation 1st.  Read more

Long Eddy man arrested in for destroying wife's cell phone

On Tuesday May 20th, 2014 Roscoe Troopers arrested a Long Eddy man for Criminal Mischief 4th; Disable equipment for emergency and Harassment 2nd.

Roscoe Troopers responded to a Long Eddy residence for a domestic incident. Upon investigation it was determined that Joshua Hauser, of Long Eddy, had gotten into a domestic dispute with his wife and during the dispute he destroyed his wife’s cell phone to prevent her from calling police and also spit in his wife’s face.  Read more

Vehicle sought in fatal hit and run in Wayne

Pennsylvania State Police are seeking "vehicle of interest" in connection with a fatal hit and run accident which occurred on May 16 at about 8:30 pm at State Route 191 at Winterdale Road, in Buckingham Township in Wayne County.  Read more

Monticello Police are currently investigating an incident involving multiple stabbing victims. The incident occurred at 6:15 PM Wednesday 5/14/14 at 37 Cottage Street in the Village of Monticello.  Read more

NYC man arrested for producing child pornography in Lumberland

On May 13, 2014 State Police at Liberty arrested Stephen P. Brown, age 62 of New York, NY for producing child pornography at a location in the Town of Lumberland. Brown was originally arrested by State Police on March 4th, 2014, after arriving at a predetermined location where at he had made plans to meet a boy who he knew to be 12 years of age for the purpose of engaging in sexual conduct. He has been held in the Albany County Jail since that date. Further investigation revealed that Brown had produced child pornography in Sullivan County during 2012 and 2013.  Read more

State Police at Liberty Arrest New Jersey Woman for Welfare Fraud

On May 9, 2014 State Police at Liberty arrested a Lafayette, New Jersey woman for Welfare Fraud. Christine Cantagallo, age 23 was arrested after an investigation conducted by the New York State Police and the Sullivan County Department of Health and Family Services Fraud Unit. The investigation determined that Cantagallo submitted vouchers for reimbursement for child care services that she never provided.  Read more

Livingston Manor teacher arrested for embezzlement

On May 8th, 2014 State Police at Liberty arrested Sandra Taggart, age 46 of Livingston Manor after an investigation into the theft of funds from the fundraising account of the Class of 2015 at the Livingston Manor Central Schools.  Read more

Man saves neighbor from fire in Otisville

The State Police in Middletown along with the Town of Mount Hope Police Department and the Orange County Fire Inspectors are currently investigating a structure fire that occurred shortly after 8:00 PM last night. The fire is believed to have started in the bedroom of an apartment at a multi-family residence, located at 94 Bull Road in the Town of Mount Hope. The call came into 911 when a man was alerted by the sound of his neighbor's smoke detector.  Read more

State Police in Lberty arrest Brooklyn man for crack

On Thursday April 29, 2014 State Police at Liberty arrested Garry Woodberry, age 53 of Brooklyn, NY after stopping a car he was a passenger in and finding him in possession of crack cocaine. Troopers stopped the vehicle on Jefferson St in the Village of Monticello. Woodberry initially gave Troopers a false name. He was subsequently found to be in possession of more than ten grams of crack cocaine, packaged for sale.  Read more

Arrests in Parksville storage facility burglary

On April 23, 2014 State Police at Liberty responded to a report of a storage unit being broken into at the American Storage facility located on Service Rd in Parksville. Guns and approximately $13,000 cash were reported stolen during the burglary. An investigation led to the arrest of Clifford Gildersleeve, age 51 of Liberty, NY and Zachary Scott, age 66 of Harris, NY.  Read more

Man arrested for sex with nine-year-old

On April 24, 2014, the Orange County Child Abuse Unit, which is comprised of members from the New York State Police, Orange County Sheriff's Office, Town of Warwick Police and Village of Goshen Police, arrested a 47 year old man for the felony of Course of Sexual Conduct 1st and the misdemeanor of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.  Read more

Arrest in theft from Narrowsburg Adult Home

On April 18, 2014 State Police at Narrowsburg arrested a Narrowsburg, NY man after investigating a theft of cash from the Narrowsburg Adult Home located on Route 97. Daniel Baxter, age 55 was arrested after Troopers investigated the theft of cash from a resident of the adult home. The theft was reported to State Police on April 9, 2014.  Read more

Grahamsville man arrested for burglary

SP Wurtsboro BCI announces the arrest of GREGORY MYERS, 29 years old, of Grahamsville, NY on the charge of Burglary 2nd.
On April 18, 2014, Myers did unlawfully enter a home on Summitville Rd in Summitville and steal several pieces of copper water pipe from the residence. Myers was arraigned in the Town of Thompson Court and remanded to Sullivan County Jail pending a future court appearance in the Town of Mamakating Court. At the time of the arrest, Myers was additionally charged on an outstanding bench warrant held by the Village of Liberty Police Department for bail jumping 3rd.

Monticello man arrested after foot chase, struggle in swamp

Monticello Police arrested Anthony Shackelford (43) of Monticello on Saturday 4/19/14. Shackelford was charged with felonies for criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 3rd and 5th degrees, assault in the 2nd degree upon a police officer, 2 counts of attempted assault upon a police officer, attempted criminal possession of a weapon in the 2nd degree, tampering with physical evidence and misdemeanor resisting arrest.  Read more

Port Jervis narcotics arrests

On April 14, 2014, police arrested Eric Freudenberg, age 36, of Port Jervis, on Pike Street, on a warrant out of the Town of Deerpark Court. Subsequent to that arrest, Port Jervis detectives charged Freudenberg with three counts of Disseminating indecent material to minors in the second degree, a class E felony, based upon an investigation into a complaint that Freudenberg had sent obscene digital images to a 13 year old female on Facebook.  Read more

Monticello man arrested for forged prescription

Monticello Police arrested William Scuderi (44) of Monticello on Monday 4/14/14. Scuderi was charged with felonies for forgery in the 2nd degree and criminal possession of a forged instrument in the 2nd degree.

Scuderi was arrested at 1:30 PM Monday when he attempted to have a forged medical prescription filled at the Rite Aide Pharmacy on Broadway in the village of Monticello. Scuderi had forged a medical prescription in an attempt to obtain 180 Roxicodone pills.  Read more

Callicoon woman arrested for sex with minor

On April 10, 2014 State Police at Liberty arrested a Callicoon, NY woman for having sexual contact with a 15 year old child. Brandi Schnakenberg, age 25 was arrested after an investigation conducted by State Police investigators assigned to the Sullivan County Family Violence Response Team and Liberty barracks. The sexual contact is alleged to have occurred during the summer of 2013.  Read more

In a continuing investigation into the sale of heroin in and around the Village of Woodridge, Deputies from the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office and Officers from the Woodridge Police Department raided a home located at 1176 Glen Wild Road Tuesday morning at around 7:30 AM (04/08/14).  Read more

Wurtsboro man arrested for DWI

On Wednesday, April 2nd, Wurtsboro Troopers arrested a Wurtsboro Man for Aggravated Driving While Ability Impaired.

Wurtsboro Troopers stopped Keith Travers, of Wurtsboro NY, for traffic violations in the Village of Wurtsboro on Wednesday night. Upon investigation Travers was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated. Travers was transported to SP Wurtsboro and processed. Travers provided a breath sample of .29%. Travers was charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated and is due to reappear in Town of Mamakating Court.

Goshen man arrested for violating order of protection

The New York State Police in Montgomery arrested James J Hines, age 49, of Goshen, NY for the felony of Criminal Contempt in the 1st Degree. The investigation revealed that Hines did violate an Orange County Family Court Order of Protection by repeatedly contacting the protected person and placing her in fear. Hines was located and arrested at his residence. He was arraigned in the Village of Montgomery Court and remanded to the Orange County Jail.

Ellenvill woman arrested for forged presriptions

On Thursday April 3, 2014, the New York State Police at Kingston arrested Billiejo Sheley, age 40, of Ellenville, NY, for the felony of Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument 2nd Degree and the misdemeanor of Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle.  Read more

Hunter woman arrested for credit card fraud

The New York State Police at Catskill announce the arrest of Sara E. Parslow, 37, of Hunter, NY, for the felony charges of Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree and Identity Theft in the Second Degree.  Read more

Monticello woman arrested for unemployment fraud

On March 19, 2014 State Police at Liberty arrested Jeanette Hicks, 29, of Monticello, NY, after an investigation into the theft of unemployment insurance benefits. An investigation conducted by the New York State Police and the New York State Department of Labor determined that Hicks collected over $3,000 in unemployment insurance between 2009 and 2010 while she was in fact working for Sullivan County as a nurse's aide.  Read more

Monticello Police arrested Linda Popper (26) of Monticello on March 14. Popper was charged with misdemeanors for obstructing firefighting operations and criminal possession of a controlled substance.  Read more

Monticello Police arrested Sharon Accarino (49) of Monticello on Tuesday 3/4/14. Accarino was charged with felony aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the 1st degree and misdemeanor driving while intoxicated.  Read more

Monticello Police arrested David Lee Ward (50) of Monticello on March 14. Ward was charged with felonies for criminal possession of stolen property, forgery, tampering with physical evidence and unlawful possession of marijuana.  Read more

Monticello man arrested for burglary

Monticello Police arrested Ollen Eck (28) of Monticello on Friday 2/28/14. Eck was charged with felony burglary in the 2nd degree and misdemeanor petit larceny. Eck was arrested following an investigation into 12/20/13 burglary of a room at the Heritage Inn on Broadway in the village of Monticello.  Read more

Monticello man arrested for felony assault

Monticello Police arrested Daniel Ridley (28) of Monticello on Friday 2/28/14. Ridley was charged with felony assault in the 2nd degree and misdemeanor menacing in the 2nd degree. Ridley was arrested after Monticello police received a complaint from a 29 year-old Monticello woman reporting that Ridley had punched her in the face and also displayed what appeared to be a revolver and threatened to kill her.  Read more

Middletown man arrested for Liberty Vehicle theft, DWI

On March 2nd, 2014 State Police arrested Robert Ramirez, age 24 of Middletown, NY after an investigation into the theft of a 2013 BMW X6 that occurred on July 2, 2013. At that time, the owner of the vehicle reported the vehicle stolen from an address in the Town of Liberty. The vehicle was located in the City of Middletown on July 7th, 2013 by Troopers from the Middletown barracks.  Read more

Swan Lake man arrested for knife threat

On March 2, 2014 State Police at Liberty responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence on State Route 55 in Swan Lake. Upon the arrival of responding troopers, they learned that Alan Yeneic, age 23, of Swan Lake had just threatened two subjects with a knife and that he had fled prior to the arrival of patrols.  Read more

On February 27th, the New York State Police in Ellenville, announce the arrest of John F. Miller, age 50, of New Windsor, NY, for Forgery, Identity Theft, Reckless Endangerment and Unlawfully Fleeing a Police Officer.  Read more

Arrests in Honsdale thefts

Honesdale Police have concluded a month long investigation into several vehicle break-ins and thefts, all reported in the area of 11th Street. On 02-24-14 Honesdale National Bank personnel alerted Honesdale Borough Police that a payroll check belonging to one of the victims of the thefts had just been cashed at a drive-thru of their Rte 6 branch.  Read more

Heroin arrest in Liberty

On Sunday 02/23/14 the Village of Liberty Police arrested Gerardo Blanco, 25 and Melissa Santana 25, both of Liberty, NY after an investigation into drug sales from a hotel room. Liberty police officers had been investigating suspicious behavior at a local hotel in Liberty.  Read more
