Anthony Stefonetti, 29, of Clarks Green and Kathleen Healy 30, of Scranton have been arrested and charged with attempt of theft and criminal mischief. According to Pennsylvania State Police, the couple attempted to steal change from the Twin Willows Car Wash in Beach Lake and caused $2500 in damages. The couple fled the scene but a witness managed to record their Pennsylvania car registration.
According to court documents and statements made on the record in court, at approximately 2:30 p.m. on March 30, 2015, Latisha Fisher, 36, was discovered by restaurant staff inside the bathroom of 5 Boro Burger, located at 976 Sixth Avenue, where she was sitting on the toilet and holding her 20-month-old son, Gavriel Fisher. At approximately 1:00 AM on Thursday September 17, 2015, the Sullivan County Sheriff's Patrol responded to a burglar alarm at Sonny's Mobil Mart on the corner of East Broadway and Rose Valley Road in the Town of Thompson. At the location, deputies found that a window had been smashed out. The owner of the store responded to the scene and determined that cash and cigarettes had been stolen. Read more
Pike County District Attorney Ray Tonkin announced on September 15 that all charges against Jared Masker were bound over for trial after a preliminary hearing was held in the Pike County Courthouse in Milford before a Magisterial District Judge. Read more
On September 10, 2015 the New York State Police based in Middletown arrested Dorothy James age 44 of Port Jervis, NY for illegally obtaining $4,713 in unemployment benefits. Read more
On Friday August 28th, 2015 the Village of Liberty Police Department arrested Matthew Whitley, 34 of Monticello NY after a vehicle stop on Buckley Street in the Village of Liberty.
Two officers working a dedicated STOP DWI roving patrol stopped Whitley’s vehicle for failing to stop at a stop sign. During the traffic stop Whitley fled on foot and was pursued by officers. While running away Whitley threw a quantity of marihuana which was later recovered by officers. Whitley was apprehended by pursuing officers a short distance away. Read more
On August 20, 2015 State Police at Liberty, along with the State Police Computer Crimes Unit arrested Jeremiah Hardy, age 38 of Monticello, NY for possessing images of children involved in sexual acts. These images were stored in various electronic devices owned by Hardy.
Hardy was charged with Possession of a Sexual Performance by a Child, a felony. He was arraigned in the Village of Monticello Court and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $20,000 cash bail. State Police were assisted in the investigation by the Sullivan County District Attorney's Office.
Today, Janine Edwards, Wayne County District Attorney, reported that the Wayne County District Attorney’s Drug Task Force was successful on Saturday, August 22, 2015 in an undercover drug operation that took down 27 year old Luis Polanco-Felipe, AKA “Cuz”, of New York, New York for trafficking heroin in Honesdale. On August 12, 2015 State Police at Liberty arrested Colleen Kenyon, age 45 of Damascus, PA for making a false report to State Police. On Sunday July 26, 2015 Kenyon contacted State Police and reported that she had been stopped in her vehicle by a New York State Trooper and sexually abused by that Trooper during the traffic stop. Local state and federal authorities on July 28 announced the unsealing of nine indictments charging a total of 34 defendants with committing various narcotics and firearms offenses in Sullivan County, New York.
Manhattan U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara said: “With the coordinated narcotics and firearms charges brought today, we seek to neutralize at least four different drug rings that allegedly have been selling massive amounts of heroin and crack cocaine for years. The devastating impact that this type of drug dealing can have on the small, rural communities like those in Sullivan County cannot be overstated. Heroin is back, with a vengeance, but so are we. The New York State Police in Middletown report the arrest of Ashley Kaufmann, age 30, an art teacher at Port Jervis High School, following a complaint that Kaufmann had a relationship with a 16 year-old male student at the high school.
Kaufmann was charged with forcible touching and endangering the welfare of a child, both misdemeanors. The forcible touching charge stems from physical contact, and the student being incapable of consenting to the physical contact due to his age. Read more
On Saturday July 11th, 2015 the Village of Liberty Police Department arrested Joseph Reyes, 28 of Liberty after an investigation into a burglary complaint. Police were called to a residence in Liberty at approximately 4:00 p.m. on July 11th, 2015 when a resident returned to her home and found the front door had been kicked in and several items had been damaged and broken inside. On Monday July 13th, 2015 the Village of Liberty Police Department arrested Larry Banks Jr., 44 of Livingston Manor after a traffic stop on South Main Street in the Village of Liberty. The vehicle Banks was operating was stopped for violations of the vehicle and traffic law. Read more
The New York State Police at Middletown announce the arrest of Shirley Ellison, age 73, of Pine Bush, NY on July 16th, subsequent to an investigation conducted by the Bureau of Criminal Investigation. Ellison is accused of striking two autistic boys, aged 8 and 13, with her hands during a bus trip from Pine Bush to The Center for Spectrum Services in Kingston. Read more
On July 18th, 2015, the members of the New York State Police, Troop F, at SP Ellenville, announce the arrest of a male subject for menacing in the Town of Shawangunk N.Y.
Arrested was Jeremy A. Flood, age 20, of Pine Bush, New York who was charged with Menacing 2nd and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th, both misdemeanors. Read more
On Tuesday June 9, 2015 at about 7:10 PM, The Smallwood Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 393 Pine Grove Road in Smallwood. The residence, which was up for sale, was unoccupied at the time. The Fire Department quickly determined that the fire was suspicious and requested the police to respond. A short time later the Sheriff's Patrol received a call of an injured male subject a few doors down at 440 Pine Grove Rd. Read more
On June 22, 2015 it was reported to State Police that a home on Aden Hill Rd in Parksville had been broken into. The homeowner reported that the house had been broken into twice, with liquor being stolen each time. After the first instance, the homeowner installed a hidden camera that captured images of the suspect during the second break-in. From the video, Troopers were able identify Robert Blomkvist, age 34 of Parksville. Blomkvist was located at his residence and taken into custody. Read more
On Wednesday June 17, 2015, at about 6:30 PM, the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a subject, who was wanted as a fugitive from justice in the state of Florida, being spotted on Katrina Falls Road in Rock Hill. The report indicated that the subject may be armed with a sniper rifle.
Members of the Sheriff’s Emergency Services Unit responded and searched the area, eventually encountering the subject in the back yard of 104 Katrina Falls Road. When the subject was told to put his hands up, he instead pulled a revolver from his back pocket and shot himself in the head. Read more
The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office has concluded a month long investigation with the arrest of Robert Dunn, 42, of York Avenue in Monticello. Mr. Dunn, who is a level 2 sex offender was arrested Sunday (5/31/15) when he allegedly went to a home on Emily Street, in the Village of Monticello, for the purpose of having sex with a 15 year old boy. What Dunn did not know was that the 15 year old boy was actually an undercover deputy sheriff who he had solicited on Facebook. Read more
Police officials on May 28 arrested five people in New York City involved in a drug ring operation that stretched from Long Island to Livingston Manor. Officials seized $5 million worth of heroin (over 26 pounds) and $115,000 in cash and two guns.
The operation was sparked by an overdose death in Livingston Manor two years ago, which prompted Sullivan County Sheriff Mike Schiff to track down the dealer with the help of multiple agencies and officials. Read more
On Friday, May 15, 2015 at 1100 hours, members of the Wayne County District Attorney’s Drug Task Force went to 2006 Great Bend Turnpike, Honesdale to serve an arrest warrant they had prepared on Steven Daniel Eldred for felony drug delivery charges stemming from an investigation they had ongoing where Eldred sold heroin to an undercover confidential informant. On Wednesday May 13th, 2015 Liberty Troopers arrested a Liberty man and a Youngsville man for drug charges and Driving While ability Impaired by Drugs charges.
Liberty Troopers conducted a traffic stop on ST-17 in the Town of Thompson on Wednesday night. Upon interview of the driver Jeremie Whitted, of Youngsville, it was discovered that there was Marihuana and pills in the vehicle. Read more
On Sunday 5/3/15 State Police at Liberty responded to the Delaware Valley Job Corps located on Route 97 in Callicoon to investigate a report that a student had been attacked and robbed in one of the dormitories. The investigation determined that on 5/3/15 at approximately 1:30am, six male students entered the victim's dorm room while he slept, held him down, beat him with a belt and broke into a locker, stealing an Iphone and cash. The victim was treated for minor injuries at Catskill Regional Medical Center's Grover Hermann campus. Read more
On April 27, 2015 State Police at Liberty arrested the treasurer for the Firefighter's Burn Treatment Fund, William Clark, after an investigation into the theft of money from the fund's account.
The Firefighter's Burn Treatment fund was established in 1976 to assist local volunteer firefighters who are injured in the line of duty. The Fund serves firefighters in Orange, Sullivan, Dutchess and Ulster Counties. The investigation determined that Clark, age 52 of Swan Lake, NY stole over $1000 in cash from the fund over the course of the past year. Read more
The Pennsylvania Superior Court has ordered that two bail companies, Seneca Insurance Company and Evergreen National Indemnity Company, pay $125,000 to Pike Counting stemming from a murder conviction committed while a defendant was free on bail. Read more
The New York State Police at Ellenville announce the arrest of Dylan A. Dordal, 18 from Mountaindale, New York for Strangulation 2nd, a Felony, Assault 3rd, a Misdemeanor and Harassment 2nd, a Violation. Read more
On Tuesday April 7, 2015 The Monticello Police Department developed information that Alfred Franklin and Tina Esquilin, who were wanted by the Sheriff’s Office, were hiding at 19 Rock Ridge Rd. in Monticello. The residence belongs to a friend of Franklin.
The couple and their children had been the subject of an Amber alert in March. When they failed to appear in Family Court on April 1st, a warrant was issued for their arrest.
Armed with the warrant, Sheriff’s deputies and Monticello Police went to the residence and took Franklin, 30 and Esquilin, 27 into custody without incident. Read more
