State Police at Liberty Arrest Pennsylvania woman for false accusations against trooper

On August 12, 2015 State Police at Liberty arrested Colleen Kenyon, age 45 of Damascus, PA for making a false report to State Police. On Sunday July 26, 2015 Kenyon contacted State Police and reported that she had been stopped in her vehicle by a New York State Trooper and sexually abused by that Trooper during the traffic stop.  Read more

34 defendents arrested in Sullivan County on gun and drug charges

Local state and federal authorities on July 28 announced the unsealing of nine indictments charging a total of 34 defendants with committing various narcotics and firearms offenses in Sullivan County, New York.

Manhattan U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara said: “With the coordinated narcotics and firearms charges brought today, we seek to neutralize at least four different drug rings that allegedly have been selling massive amounts of heroin and crack cocaine for years. The devastating impact that this type of drug dealing can have on the small, rural communities like those in Sullivan County cannot be overstated. Heroin is back, with a vengeance, but so are we. The law enforcement effort today is the product of remarkable cooperation among federal, state and local agencies and I thank all of our partners.”  Read more

Port Jervis teacher arrested for student relationship

The New York State Police in Middletown report the arrest of Ashley Kaufmann, age 30, an art teacher at Port Jervis High School, following a complaint that Kaufmann had a relationship with a 16 year-old male student at the high school.

Kaufmann was charged with forcible touching and endangering the welfare of a child, both misdemeanors. The forcible touching charge stems from physical contact, and the student being incapable of consenting to the physical contact due to his age.  Read more

The Sullivan County Sheriff's Office has arrested two suspects from Loch Sheldrake in connection with a burglary at the Monticello Farmer's Market.  Read more

Liberty man arrested for stealing wallet

On Friday July 10th, 2015 the Village of Liberty Police Department arrested Randy Keator, 58 of Liberty, NY after an investigation into a stolen wallet. Police were initially alerted of the theft at approximately 5:00 p.m. on July 10th, 2015.  Read more

Liberty man arrested for burglary

On Saturday July 11th, 2015 the Village of Liberty Police Department arrested Joseph Reyes, 28 of Liberty after an investigation into a burglary complaint. Police were called to a residence in Liberty at approximately 4:00 p.m. on July 11th, 2015 when a resident returned to her home and found the front door had been kicked in and several items had been damaged and broken inside.  Read more

Livingston Manor man arrested for felony DWI

On Monday July 13th, 2015 the Village of Liberty Police Department arrested Larry Banks Jr., 44 of Livingston Manor after a traffic stop on South Main Street in the Village of Liberty. The vehicle Banks was operating was stopped for violations of the vehicle and traffic law.  Read more

Pine Bush woman arrested for striking autistic boys

The New York State Police at Middletown announce the arrest of Shirley Ellison, age 73, of Pine Bush, NY on July 16th, subsequent to an investigation conducted by the Bureau of Criminal Investigation. Ellison is accused of striking two autistic boys, aged 8 and 13, with her hands during a bus trip from Pine Bush to The Center for Spectrum Services in Kingston.  Read more

Pine Bush man arrested for threatening family member with knife

On July 18th, 2015, the members of the New York State Police, Troop F, at SP Ellenville, announce the arrest of a male subject for menacing in the Town of Shawangunk N.Y.

Arrested was Jeremy A. Flood, age 20, of Pine Bush, New York who was charged with Menacing 2nd and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th, both misdemeanors.  Read more

Pedestrian killed in Jeffersonville

On July 8, 2015, the New York State Police at SP Liberty investigated a one car, pedestrian motor vehicle accident on St-52 in Jeffersonville, in the Town of Callicoon, during which the pedestrian was killed.  Read more

Smallwood man robs, burns building, self

On Tuesday June 9, 2015 at about 7:10 PM, The Smallwood Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 393 Pine Grove Road in Smallwood. The residence, which was up for sale, was unoccupied at the time. The Fire Department quickly determined that the fire was suspicious and requested the police to respond. A short time later the Sheriff's Patrol received a call of an injured male subject a few doors down at 440 Pine Grove Rd.  Read more

On Tuesday June 30, 2015, at approximately 1:00 AM, the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Patrol responded to a 911 report of a hit and run pedestrian accident on School Street in Narrowsburg.  Read more

Smallwood couple arrested for child endangerment

On June 26, 2015, the New York State Police at Liberty announce the arrest of Jesse Krebs, age 25, and Nicole Hughes, age 28, both from Smallwood, NY for the misdemeanor charge of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.  Read more

Parksville man caught stealing liquor on camera

On June 22, 2015 it was reported to State Police that a home on Aden Hill Rd in Parksville had been broken into. The homeowner reported that the house had been broken into twice, with liquor being stolen each time. After the first instance, the homeowner installed a hidden camera that captured images of the suspect during the second break-in. From the video, Troopers were able identify Robert Blomkvist, age 34 of Parksville. Blomkvist was located at his residence and taken into custody.  Read more

The New York State Police at Ellenville announce the arrest of Robert J. Russell, 32 of Ellenville, New York for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 4th, a Class C Felony.  Read more

Man shoots himself in the head in Rock Hill

On Wednesday June 17, 2015, at about 6:30 PM, the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a subject, who was wanted as a fugitive from justice in the state of Florida, being spotted on Katrina Falls Road in Rock Hill. The report indicated that the subject may be armed with a sniper rifle.

Members of the Sheriff’s Emergency Services Unit responded and searched the area, eventually encountering the subject in the back yard of 104 Katrina Falls Road. When the subject was told to put his hands up, he instead pulled a revolver from his back pocket and shot himself in the head.  Read more

The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Grahamsville man after a year long investigation into illegal marijuana cultivation and distribution in the Town of Fallsburg.  Read more

Registered sex offender arrested in online sting

The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office has concluded a month long investigation with the arrest of Robert Dunn, 42, of York Avenue in Monticello. Mr. Dunn, who is a level 2 sex offender was arrested Sunday (5/31/15) when he allegedly went to a home on Emily Street, in the Village of Monticello, for the purpose of having sex with a 15 year old boy. What Dunn did not know was that the 15 year old boy was actually an undercover deputy sheriff who he had solicited on Facebook.  Read more

Heroin overdose in Manor leads to $5 million bust in NYC

Police officials on May 28 arrested five people in New York City involved in a drug ring operation that stretched from Long Island to Livingston Manor. Officials seized $5 million worth of heroin (over 26 pounds) and $115,000 in cash and two guns.

The operation was sparked by an overdose death in Livingston Manor two years ago, which prompted Sullivan County Sheriff Mike Schiff to track down the dealer with the help of multiple agencies and officials.  Read more

Money, guns and drugs in Honesdale bust

On Friday, May 15, 2015 at 1100 hours, members of the Wayne County District Attorney’s Drug Task Force went to 2006 Great Bend Turnpike, Honesdale to serve an arrest warrant they had prepared on Steven Daniel Eldred for felony drug delivery charges stemming from an investigation they had ongoing where Eldred sold heroin to an undercover confidential informant.  Read more

Traffic stop, drug bust

On Wednesday May 13th, 2015 Liberty Troopers arrested a Liberty man and a Youngsville man for drug charges and Driving While ability Impaired by Drugs charges.

Liberty Troopers conducted a traffic stop on ST-17 in the Town of Thompson on Wednesday night. Upon interview of the driver Jeremie Whitted, of Youngsville, it was discovered that there was Marihuana and pills in the vehicle.  Read more

Job Corps students arrested for beating, robbing fellow student

On Sunday 5/3/15 State Police at Liberty responded to the Delaware Valley Job Corps located on Route 97 in Callicoon to investigate a report that a student had been attacked and robbed in one of the dormitories. The investigation determined that on 5/3/15 at approximately 1:30am, six male students entered the victim's dorm room while he slept, held him down, beat him with a belt and broke into a locker, stealing an Iphone and cash. The victim was treated for minor injuries at Catskill Regional Medical Center's Grover Hermann campus.  Read more

The Community Narcotics Enforcement Team, Capital Region, arrested Alex Pia, age 25, after a search warrant was executed at his residence on Nancy Lane in the Town of Chester, Orange County.  Read more

Treasurer for Firefighters fund arrested

On April 27, 2015 State Police at Liberty arrested the treasurer for the Firefighter's Burn Treatment Fund, William Clark, after an investigation into the theft of money from the fund's account.

The Firefighter's Burn Treatment fund was established in 1976 to assist local volunteer firefighters who are injured in the line of duty. The Fund serves firefighters in Orange, Sullivan, Dutchess and Ulster Counties. The investigation determined that Clark, age 52 of Swan Lake, NY stole over $1000 in cash from the fund over the course of the past year.  Read more

Kayaker Arrested for Murder

The New York State Police at Montgomery and the Orange County District Attorney’s Office announce the arrest of Angelika Graswald, age 35, from Poughkeepsie, NY, for Murder in the Second Degree, a class A-1 Felony.  Read more

Bail companies ordered to pay Pike County $125,000

The Pennsylvania Superior Court has ordered that two bail companies, Seneca Insurance Company and Evergreen National Indemnity Company, pay $125,000 to Pike Counting stemming from a murder conviction committed while a defendant was free on bail.  Read more

Mountaindale man arrested for strangling girlfriend

The New York State Police at Ellenville announce the arrest of Dylan A. Dordal, 18 from Mountaindale, New York for Strangulation 2nd, a Felony, Assault 3rd, a Misdemeanor and Harassment 2nd, a Violation.  Read more

Monticello couple arrested arrested for skipping court date

On Tuesday April 7, 2015 The Monticello Police Department developed information that Alfred Franklin and Tina Esquilin, who were wanted by the Sheriff’s Office, were hiding at 19 Rock Ridge Rd. in Monticello. The residence belongs to a friend of Franklin.

The couple and their children had been the subject of an Amber alert in March. When they failed to appear in Family Court on April 1st, a warrant was issued for their arrest.

Armed with the warrant, Sheriff’s deputies and Monticello Police went to the residence and took Franklin, 30 and Esquilin, 27 into custody without incident.  Read more

Loch Sheldrake man arrested for rape

On April 6, 2015 State Police at Liberty arrested Michael Fisher, age 21 of Loch Sheldrake, NY after an investigation determined that he had sexual intercourse with a fourteen year old child. The incident was determined to have occurred in December of 2014 in the Town of Fallsburg.  Read more

Three arrested in Liberty for drugs

Village of Liberty Police arrested three people on March 16th, 2015 after an investigation into a firearm being brandished from a a vehicle at two individuals on Main Street in the evening hours. Police investigation resulted in locating the vehicle involved a short time later on North Main Street. Subsequent investigation resulted in locating approximately 5 grams of cocaine packaged for sale and a small amount of marihuana inside the vehicle.  Read more

On March 14, 2015, the New York State Police Ellenville announce the arrest of Zain Ismail Eisenberg, age 23, of Asheville, North Carolina for the charges of Public Lewdness, Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree, Petit Larceny and Disorderly Conduct.  Read more

Roscoe man arrested for stealing drugs

On March 10, 2015 State Police at Liberty arrested a Roscoe man after an investigation into the burglaries of 2 local businesses. On January 18, 2015 State Police responded to the Medicine Shoppe located on Stewart Ave after it was reported that someone had broken in and removed several thousand prescription painkillers.  Read more

Beach Lake man arrested for two pounds of pot

On February 24, 2015 Troopers assigned to the Narrowsburg barracks executed a traffic stop on Bridge Street in Narrowsburg. During the stop, Troopers found the operator, Russell Compton, age 19 of Beach Lake, PA to be in possession of two pounds of marijuana and a small quantity of hashish.  Read more

On February 26, 2015 State Police at Liberty arrested Zachary Doolittle, age 24 of Wurtsboro after investigating a report that he had sexual contact with a victim under the age of seventeen. The case was investigated by State Police members assigned to the Sullivan County Family Violence Response Team.  Read more

Manor man arrested twice in one night

On Wednesday February 25, 2015, Roscoe Troopers arrested the same Livingston Manor man twice in one night for Driving While Intoxicated.

Troopers from Roscoe responded to a Sullivan County 911 call for a man that had fallen out of his vehicle and was in the middle of the street in Livingston Manor on Wednesday night. Upon arrival to the scene Troopers located Paul Decker, of Livingston Manor, lying on the ground outside his vehicle in a highly intoxicated state.  Read more

Long assault prison sentence for Pike County man

A Pike County man was sentenced in Pike court for assaulting his wife in their Greentown home. In November a Pike County Jury found Paul Burke, age 44, guilty of Aggravated Assault, a felony, Terroristic Threats, Simple Assault and Recklessly Endangering Another, all misdemeanors. On February 24, Judge Gregory H. Chelak sentenced Burke to 8 ½ years to 17 years in a state correctional facility, and ordered him to pay a fine of $1,700.00.  Read more

Grahamsville trio arrested for theft

On February 5, 2015 State Police at Liberty arrested three Grahamsville residents after an investigation into the theft of a credit card and debit card. The theft was reported to State Police on January 31, 2015. An investigation by the BCI unit at SP Liberty determined that the stolen cards had been used at various locations throughout Sullivan County. The thefts totalled more than $3000.00.  Read more

Brothers busted for marijuana

On January 30th, 2015, New York State Police based in Greenville (Orange County) announce the arrests of John W. Stevens, 20 years old of Greenville, NY and Brett M. Stevens, 19 years old of Huguenot, NY for felony drug possession.

Both men were charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fourth Degree and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana after State Troopers were called to a report of an accident on Greenville Turnpike in the Town of Greenville.  Read more
