Arrest in Kauneonga Lake stabbing

Early on the morning of July 27, the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office responded to a fight in progress at the Table and Tap Restaurant in the Kauneonga Lake section of the Town of Bethel. When deputies arrived at the location they found a large crowd on the sidewalk in front of the restaurant.

While investigating the disturbance, sheriff’s dispatch received a report of a stabbing victim being brought to Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. Deputies quickly determined that the victim had been injured during the melee at the restaurant.  Read more

Man arrested for exposing himself to drivers

On July 24, 2014 State Police at Liberty received reports from motorists traveling on Route 17 in Sullivan County that a male subject was exposing his genitalia while driving. A Liberty based Trooper located and stopped the vehicle described in the reports.  Read more

Monticello man arrested for child pornography

On July 23, 2014 State Police at Liberty, along with the State Police Computer Crimes Unit executed a search warrant at a residence in the Village of Monticello after an investigation into the possession of child pornography.

Jose Colon, age 28 was arrested and charged with Possession of a Sexual Performance by a Child, a felony. He was arraigned in the Village of Monticello Court and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail. State Police were assisted in the investigation by the Sullivan County District Attorney's Office.

Woodbourne man arrested for drug possession

State Police at SP Liberty announce the arrest of Matthew Coney, 21, of Woodbourne, NY for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana.  Read more

Hurleyville man arrest for marijuana

State Police at SP Liberty announce the arrest of Brandon M. Beckmann, 22, of Hurleyville, NY for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana and Controlled Substance in Non Original Container.

On 07/24/14, State Police observed the front seat passenger of a vehicle in violation of the vehicle and traffic law on High St in the Village of Monticello. A traffic stop was conducted. During the interview an odor of marijuana was observed emanating from the vehicle.  Read more

Port Jervis man arreste on weapons charge

State Police at Middletown announce the arrest of Lucas A. Young, age 29, of Port Jervis, NY for Burglary 1st ( Class B Felony), and Criminal Use of a Firearm in the First Degree.( Class B Felony).

On July 24, 2014 State Police responded to a Town of Deerpark residence for a report of Burglary in progress. Upon arrival, Troopers observed several subjects fleeing the scene. Young was apprehended at the scene and in possession of a firearm.  Read more

On Friday July 18th, 2014 the Village of Liberty Police Department arrested Kyle Stevens, 27 after an investigation into theft of money from a local business.  Read more

Monticello man arrested for burglary

Monticello Police arrested Glenden Reynolds (22) of Monticello on Thursday 7/17/14. Reynolds was arrested as a result of an ongoing investigation into a burglary of the Monticello Liquors Store located on Pleasant Street in the Village of Monticello.  Read more

Couple arrested for delivering drugs to prison

SADIE SILVER, age 40, and MICHAEL ACOSTA, were arrested after arriving at the Coxsackie Correctional Facility located on State Route 9W in the Town of Coxsackie for a visit with an inmate. SILVER and ACOSTA were found to possess a quantity of heroin and suboxone, which they were attempting to deliver to the inmate. SILVER and ACOSTA brought a 10-year-old child with them while they attempted to deliver the narcotics.  Read more

Cases addressed by the Raymond L. Hamill, President Judge, Wayne County

Peter Clifford, 28, of Honesdale, was sentenced to pay costs of prosecution, pay a fine in the amount of $750.00, undergo imprisonment for a period of not less than 90 days nor more than 6 months, and perform 50 hours of community service within 6 months. Clifford previously pleaded guilty to one count of DUI, graded as a misdemeanor of the 1st degree. The incident occurred on Dec. 1, 2013 in Texas Township. Clifford was arrested by the Pennsylvania State Police. Clifford’s BAC was a .16%.  Read more

Car and bicycle accident results in death of NYC teen

State Police from SP Liberty investigated a fatal motor vehicle, bicycle accident that occurred on July 13 on DeBruce Road in the Town of Rockland in which an eighteen year old man from NYC was killed.  Read more

Search Warrant Execution in Port Jervis at 26 Elizabeth Street, Apt#4

On July 8, 2014, members of the Port Jervis City Police and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Group assisted by Orange County Child Protective Services executed a “No Knock” Port Jervis City Court Ordered Search Warrant on an apartment located at 26 Elizabeth Street, Apartment #4, in the City of Port Jervis, New York.  Read more

Roscoe woman arrested for filing false papers

On July 8, 2014 State Police at Liberty arrested Stephanie Foley, age 29 of Roscoe, NY after an investigation into the filing of false applications with the Sullivan County Department of Health and Family Services. An investigation by State Police and Sullivan County Welfare Fraud investigators determined that Foley filed false paperwork with Sullivan County in an effort to obtain public benefits.  Read more

Napanoch man arrested for rape

State Police at Ellenville announce the arrest of Michael A. Bangert Jr., age 17, of Napanoch for Rape 3rd, a Felony, Criminal Sexual Act 3rd, a Felony and Forcible Touching, a Misdemeanor.  Read more

Liberty-based state trooper death

On June 29, 2014, State Police were called to the area of Nassau Lake in Rensselaer County for an unresponsive female. When Troopers arrived they found 27-year-old, Kerstin Williams, deceased.  Read more

Police investigate Wurtsboro pedestrian fatality

On 06/30/2014, Troopers from SP Wurtsboro responded to a reported car/pedestrian motor vehicle accident which occurred on ST-209 in Wurtsboro. The investigation at the scene determined that a 2009 Honda Civic, operated by a forty-eight year old male from Phillipsport, N.Y. was traveling north bound on ST-209 when the vehicle struck and killed a pedestrian crossing the roadway in the area of Porco Gas. The pedestrian was identified as Donna Manning, age 78, of Wurtsboro, N.Y. The state police advise that no tickets have been issued but that the accident is still under investigation.

Rock Hill man arrested for rape

On June 26, 2014, the New York State Police in Wurtsboro arrested Richard Gonzales, age 50, of Rock Hill, NY, for the felony charges of Rape in the First Degree and Criminal Sexual Act in the First Degree. He was additionally charged with the misdemeanor offense of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

Gonzales was arrested and charged following an investigation which revealed he had engaged in forcible sexual intercourse with a 12 year old female. The incident occurred on June 24, 2014 in his apartment. Gonzales and the victim are acquaintances.  Read more

New York State Troopers in Middletown arrested a Newburgh, NY woman on Tuesday for driving the wrong way on I-84 in the Town of Wallkill.  Read more

Highland Falls man arrested for killing wife

The New York State Police in conjunction with the Village of Highland Falls Police Department and the Orange County District Attorney’s Office investigated a homicide that occurred on Friday, June 20, 2014, in Highland Falls, NY.

The homicide appears to have been the culmination of a violent domestic incident between Leonard Salters, age 51, and his wife, Junco Salters, age 62, both of Highland Falls, NY. Junco Salters was found in the couple’s apartment with multiple stab wounds. She was transported to St. Lukes Cornwall Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.  Read more

Roscoe woman arrested under Leandra's Law

State Police in Roscoe NY observed a 1998 Lincoln Town Car off of the road and into a ditch on Tennanah Lake Road in Roscoe. The driver, identified as 53 year old Anne Slowey of Roscoe NY, told police that while she was driving, she turned to reprimand her two juvenile children, seated in the rear, and veered off of the roadway. Troopers were unable to locate the children.  Read more

Port Jervis heroin arrests

Port Jervis City Police with assistance from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department Special Operations Group executed a “No Knock” Search Warrant issued from Port Jervis City Court upon an apartment located at 3 Barcelow Street in the City of Port Jervis, on June 20, 2014 based upon on-going investigations into the illicit sale of narcotic drugs in the City of Port Jervis.  Read more

Arrest in South Canaan Township shooting

On June 20, 2014 at approximately 10:00 am, the Pennsylvania State Police in Honesdale responded to a residence located at 147 Daniels Road, South Canaan Township, Wayne County for the report of a female that was shot inside the residence. Upon arrival at the residence, Troopers found Rebecca Pisall,
20 years old, with a gunshot wound. Ms. Pisall was subsequently flown to Geisinger CMC Hospital in Scranton, where she is in critical condition. A male suspect was taken into custody.  Read more

State Police at Liberty Make Arrest in Child Abuse Case

On Wednesday June 18, 2014 State Police at Liberty and members of the Sullivan County Family Violence Response Team arrested Saundra Hansson, age 21 of Mexico, NY after an investigation into an assault on a 3 year old child. The child is currently listed in critical condition at a regional trauma center with numerous internal and external injuries.  Read more

Bloomingburg woman arrested for knifing boy

The New York State Police in Wurtsboro announce the arrest of Krystal Corley, age 23, of Bloomingburg, NY, for Assault in the 2nd degree, a felony and the misdemeanor charges of endangering the welfare of a child and menacing in the 2nd degree.

This arrest was the result of an allegation that Corley used a knife to cause physical injury to a 16 year old male subject during a dispute between the parties. The victim was treated at Orange Regional Medical Center and later transferred to Westchester Medical Center for further observation.  Read more

Stabbing at Liberty High School

Numerous news outlets are reporting that there was a fight and stabbing at Liberty High School on June 6. The school was locked down for a time, but the lock down was cancelled and classes resumed by early afternoon.

School officials told news outlets that an unidentified assailant was in custody. One report said a 16-year-old female student was arrested, and that another female was the stabbing victim.

A 17-year-old male was also reportedly cut as he was trying to break up the fight.

No one else at the school was injured during the event.

Monticello parolee arrrested after foot chase

Monticello Police arrested Angelo Deon Johnson (37) of Monticello on Tuesday 5/28/14. Johnson was charged with felonies for Assault in the 2nd degree, Tampering with physical evidence, and misdemeanors for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th degree, Resisting Arrest and Obstructing Governmental Administration. New York State Parole also wanted Johnson on an arrest warrant for violation of parole.  Read more

Monticello Police arrested Taquanne Brooks (23) of Monticello on May 25. Brooks was charged with the felony of Rape in the 2nd degree.  Read more

State Police Liberty continue to make arrests at Mysteryland:

--State Police investigated a motor vehicle/pedestrian accident on West Shore Rd. Raccid Vanbalsfoort, age 34 of Best Holland, NY was operating a Kubota UTV when he struck a pedestrian. The pedestrian was examined by EMS and declined treatment at the scene. Mr. Vanbalsfoort was arrested and charged with misdemeanor DWI. He was arraigned by T/J Barber in the town of Bethel Court and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $500 bail. He will return to Bethel court on May 27, 2014  Read more

Drug arrest at Mysteryland Festival

On Friday, May 23, 2014, State Police in Liberty conducted a traffic stop on Perry Road in the town of Bethel around the Mysteryland festival. Evelyn C. Pierrepont, age 23, of Locust Valley, NY was a passenger in a 2009 Mercedes which was stopped for an equipment violation while approaching Mysteryland. She was charged with felony Criminal Possession of Controlled Substance 4th (hallucinogen - LSD DMT), Criminal Possession of Controlled Substance 7th (hash oil & 1.9 grams Molly/MDMA), Unlawful Possession of Marihauna, PHL prescription container violation.  Read more

On May 21, 2014, the State Police in Montgomery in conjunction with the State Police on Long Island, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Orange County District Attorney's Office arrested Richard J DeRosa, age 41, of Bellmore, New York for the felonies of criminal possession of a firearm and criminal impersonation 1st.  Read more

Long Eddy man arrested in for destroying wife's cell phone

On Tuesday May 20th, 2014 Roscoe Troopers arrested a Long Eddy man for Criminal Mischief 4th; Disable equipment for emergency and Harassment 2nd.

Roscoe Troopers responded to a Long Eddy residence for a domestic incident. Upon investigation it was determined that Joshua Hauser, of Long Eddy, had gotten into a domestic dispute with his wife and during the dispute he destroyed his wife’s cell phone to prevent her from calling police and also spit in his wife’s face.  Read more

Vehicle sought in fatal hit and run in Wayne

Pennsylvania State Police are seeking "vehicle of interest" in connection with a fatal hit and run accident which occurred on May 16 at about 8:30 pm at State Route 191 at Winterdale Road, in Buckingham Township in Wayne County.  Read more
