The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a burglary which occurred between Sunday night (1/26/14)and early Monday (1/27/14)morning at a business outside of Monticello.  Read more

Pond Eddy woman arrested for stealing truck

On January 27th, 2014 at approximately 12:30 am, State Police at Liberty were contacted by a resident of Pond Eddy reporting that his 2003 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck had just been stolen from his driveway on Church Road. Responding Troopers located the vehicle a short time later being operated on Shortell Road in the Town of Lumberland. The operator of the vehicle was taken into custody.  Read more

Monticello woman arrested for forged prescription

On January 27th, 2014 State Police at Liberty arrested a Monticello woman for forging a prescription for the painkiller Oxycodone. Authorities were alerted when 26 year old Kimberly Cleveland attempted to obtain the drug at the Monticello Walmart. Walmart pharmacy employees noticed that the prescription appeared to be forged and refused to fill the order. Cleveland was arrested a short time later in the Village of Liberty.  Read more

State Police Make Arrest in Embezzlement from Masonic Lodge

On January 21, 2014 State Police at Liberty arrested John P. Wells, age 44 of Milford, PA, after an investigation into the theft of funds from lodges of the Free and Accepted Masons in Sullivan County. An investigation revealed that Wells embezzled funds exceeding $50,000 over several years while he was an officer for the Masons.  Read more

Ten charged with dealing heroin and cocaine in Pike County

Seven suspected drug dealers were arrested in Pike County on January 14 as part of an investigation by the Pike County District Attorney’s Office into the selling of heroin and cocaine in Pike County. Three additional arrests are expected.  Read more

Monticello woman arrested for stealing roommate's purse

Monticello Police arrested Nicole Zydor (27) of Monticello on Wednesday 1/15/14. Zydor was charged with felony grand larceny in the 4th degree and misdemeanor petit larceny. She was also wanted by the Sullivan county sheriff office on a bench warrant for petit larceny from the Town of Thompson court.  Read more

Monticello arrested for DWI, drugs after fleeing on foot

Monticello Police arrested George Germany (27) of Monticello on Friday 1/17/14. Germany was charged with misdemeanors for driving while intoxicated, driving while ability impaired by the use of dugs, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 7th degree, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and resisting arrest.  Read more

On Thursday 01/16/14 the Village of Liberty Police Department arrested Joseph Stringfellow, 31, of Liberty, after an investigation into larcenies from cars in the Village of Liberty.  Read more

On January 14, 2014, members of the New York State Police in Ellenville arrested an 18 year old for Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, Criminal Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia in the Town of Wawarsing, NY.  Read more

On January 12, 2014, the New York State Police at SP Ellenville announce the arrest of Elisha M. Sickler, age 31, of Accord, NY, for the misdemeanor charge of Endangering the Welfare of Child.  Read more

State police arrest couple in Sullivan County ice storm

New York State Police at Liberty arrested Cynthia Pique, 39, and Eduardo Rodriguez, 37, both of Monticello, NY after troopers observed them sliding across Bridgeville Road in the Town of Thompson. The investigation revealed that Pique was operating a 2002 Lexus while having a suspended license and switched license plates on the vehicle.  Read more

District Attorney Jim Farrell announced today that John Irby, 34, of Ravena, NY was convicted, by jury verdict, in Sullivan County Court of Unlawful Imprisonment and various other charges.  Read more

Glen Spey woman arrested for forged documents at probation visit

Monticello Police arrested Amy Jo Smith (36) of Glen Spey on Thursday 1/9/14. Smith was charged with felony criminal possession of a forged instrument in the 2nd degree. On Thursday Smith had reported to the Sullivan county Probation Dept. because her out of state probation had been transferred to Sullivan County.  Read more

State Police in Middletown announce the arrest of James M. Smith, age 36, of Ellenville, NY, following an investigation into the September 9th, 2013 robbery of a man that occurred in the parking lot of the Dunning Farms Shopping Center in the Town of Wallkill.  Read more

The State Police at Ellenville announce the arrest of Donald Fairweather Jr. age 47 of Cragsmoor NY for Vehicular Manslaughter in the first degree, a Felony, Vehicular Manslaughter in the second degree, a Felony, two counts of Vehicular Assault in the first degree, both Felonies, Vehicular Assault, in the second degree, a Felony, and Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated, a Misdemeanor.  Read more

Teens arrested for stealing snowmobile

On 12/30/13, the New York State Police at Catskill and the Town of Hunter Police Department arrested CAMERON J. PARQUEZ, age 16, of Tannersville, NY and MICHAEL W. MARTIN, age 18, also of Tannersville, NY, on charges of Burglary in the Third Degree, a class D Felony and Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree, a class E Felony.  Read more

Monticello man arrested for burglary

Monticello Police arrested James Colon (40) of Monticello on Wednesday 1/1/14. Colon was charged with felonies for burglary in the 2nd degree and grand larceny in the 4th degree.

At approximately 6:30 PM on Tuesday 12/31/13, Colon broke into a residence on Cottage Street in the village of Monticello. Colon entered the residence by breaking in through a rear door.

Colon then stole a 50-inch flat screen TV valued at more than $1000.00 from the residence and fled. Based on witness information at the scene officers were able to develop Colon as a suspect.  Read more

Mountaindale man sentenced to 16 years

Sullivan County District Attorney Jim Farrell announced today that Daniel Justiniano, 19, of Mountaindale, NY was sentenced in Sullivan County Court on December 17, 2013, to 16 years in state prison and 5 years of post release supervision for four separate home burglaries in the Town of Fallsburg.  Read more

Swan Lake man sentenced for stealing guns

District Attorney Jim Farrell announced that Christopher Rubio, 27, of Swan Lake, N.Y. was sentenced on December 19, 2013, in Sullivan County Court to 10 years in state prison and 5 years of post release supervision for convictions of Burglary in the 2nd Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree, both class C violent felonies by County Judge Frank LaBuda.  Read more

On December 18, 2013, in conjunction with the Orange County District Attorney’s Office, the New York State Police arrested John Raftery, age 43, of Pine Bush, NY for Grand Larceny in the Third Degree.  Read more

Lake Huntington man arrested after pointing weapon at officer

On Wednesday 12/11/13 at approximately 6:30 AM Corporal Blake Starner and Deputy Rich Morgan of the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Patrol responded to a 911 call of shots fired in the vicinity of 6744 State Route 52 in Lake Huntington.  Read more

NYS Counter Terrorism Zone 4 to deploy action teams

On December 11, 2013 Counter Terrorism Zone 4 (CTZ-4) will deploy its Counter Terrorism Action Teams (CTAT) to shopping areas and train stations within Orange, Rockland and Sullivan Counties.

CTZ-4 will utilize its Counter Terrorism Action Teams to deter terrorism activity within CTZ-4. These proactive teams will conduct random checks of high profile areas and educate the public so they can be more vigilant in recognizing and reporting suspicious activity.  Read more

On December 9, 2013, State Police in Middletown announce the arrest of Jesse D. Castro, age 25, of Westtown NY for attempted assault and other charges following the investigation of a disturbance at Castro’s residence.  Read more

Liberty man faces up to 10 years in state prison for gun and drug charges

District Attorney Jim Farrell announced today that Raymond Copeland, 37, of Liberty, N.Y., entered a plea of guilty in Sullivan County Court to Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree, a class B felony, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree, a class C violent felony.  Read more

Callicoon couple arrested

On Monday, December 9, 2013, State Police in Liberty, NY received a report of a burglary in progress in Mongaup Valley, NY. As a result of the investigation Daniel Pierce, age 25, and Ashley Fontanes, age 26, both of Callicoon, NY were arrested. They were charged with Burglary 2nd, Criminal Mischief 3rd, Criminal Posession of a Controlled Substance 7th, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 5th. They were both arraigned and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail.
