Long assault prison sentence for Pike County man

A Pike County man was sentenced in Pike court for assaulting his wife in their Greentown home. In November a Pike County Jury found Paul Burke, age 44, guilty of Aggravated Assault, a felony, Terroristic Threats, Simple Assault and Recklessly Endangering Another, all misdemeanors. On February 24, Judge Gregory H. Chelak sentenced Burke to 8 ½ years to 17 years in a state correctional facility, and ordered him to pay a fine of $1,700.00.  Read more

Grahamsville trio arrested for theft

On February 5, 2015 State Police at Liberty arrested three Grahamsville residents after an investigation into the theft of a credit card and debit card. The theft was reported to State Police on January 31, 2015. An investigation by the BCI unit at SP Liberty determined that the stolen cards had been used at various locations throughout Sullivan County. The thefts totalled more than $3000.00.  Read more

Brothers busted for marijuana

On January 30th, 2015, New York State Police based in Greenville (Orange County) announce the arrests of John W. Stevens, 20 years old of Greenville, NY and Brett M. Stevens, 19 years old of Huguenot, NY for felony drug possession.

Both men were charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fourth Degree and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana after State Troopers were called to a report of an accident on Greenville Turnpike in the Town of Greenville.  Read more

Wayne County sentences

RALPH PAUL BOEHMER, age 34, of Waymart, PA was sentenced, in two separate cases, to a State Correctional Institution for a period of not less than 18 months nor more than 84 months for one count of Receiving Stolen Property, graded as a Felony of the 3rd Degree, one count of Recklessly Endangering Another Person, graded as a Misdemeanor of the 2nd Degree, and one count of Disorderly Conduct, graded as a Misdemeanor of the 3rd Degree.  Read more

Thompson Man arrested for sending naked pictures to minor

On Thursday January 15th, 2015 the Village of Liberty Police Department arrested Michael Eason, 28 of Thompson after an investigation into the dissemination of pornographic material to a 14 year old juvenile in Liberty. Police began investigating when they became aware that the 14 year old had been sent naked pictures from an account in the name of a 16 year old female and the individual had requested naked pictures of the 14 year old in return.  Read more

Port Jervis duo arreted for heroin

The Port Jervis City Police Department and Orange County District Attorney’s Office announces that on Wednesday, January 14, 2015, members of the Port Jervis City Police Department, in conjunction with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Group, executed a Port Jervis City Court “no knock” search warrant at 140 Ball Street, Port Jervis. According to police, an undisclosed amount of heroin and narcotics paraphernalia was seized.  Read more

Two "major" Sullivan heroin dealers arrested

The Sheriff's Office has arrested two major suppliers in the Sullivan County heroin trade following a 6 month investigation.
On Tuesday January 13, 2015, deputies executed a search warrant at 41 High Street in Monticello. Taken into custody was 24 year old Frank Drayton, a/k/a "Vic".  Read more

Accused child rapist found guilty in Honesdale

Janine Edwards, Wayne County District Attorney, announced that David Scott Teeter was found guilty today January 14 by a Wayne County Jury of one count of Rape-Complainant less than 13 years old, Felony 1 and one count of Rape of a Child, Felony 1.  Read more

The following cases were addressed by the Raymond L. Hamill, President Judge, Wayne County:

AARON JOSEPH ROSSIGNOL, age 36 of Lake Ariel, PA, was sentenced to probation for a period of not less than 36 months, for one count of Theft by Unlawful Taking or Disposition, graded as a Misdemeanor of the 1st Degree. He was also ordered to pay
all Court costs, pay a fine in the amount of $500.00, and pay restitution in the amount of $7,000.00. The incident occurred between April 25, 2011 and January 22, 2014, in Salem Township.  Read more

Napanoch woman arrested for welfare fraud

On January 8th, 2015, State Police at Liberty arrested Grace Belmont, age 31 of Napanoch, NY after an investigation conducted in conjunction with the Sullivan County Welfare Fraud Unit. The investigation determined that Belmont applied for and received benefits from the Sullivan County Department of Health and Family Services that she was not entitled to. These benefits totaled more than $10,000.  Read more

Liberty duo arrested for Christmas burglary

Daniel Doty, 26, and Kaitlin Doty, 24, both of Liberty, were arrested for allegedly breaking into a house on Christmas day and stealing several items including an AR-15 rifle.  Read more

Mother steals $27,000 from son in Afghanistan

On Tuesday, December 23rd, 2014, the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Middletown arrested Pearl Smith, age 46, of the Town of Greenville, for Grand Larceny in third degree and Aggravated Identity Theft.  Read more

On Sunday December 21st, 2014 Liberty Troopers arrested a Livingston Manor man for Assault and Criminal Mischief stemming from a Domestic dispute with his girlfriend.  Read more

Port Jervis felony narcotics arrests

At 4:19 AM on December 7, 2014, Port Jervis Police responded to a disturbance call at the Port Jervis Municipal parking lot on lower Pike Street. Upon arrival officers observed a large group of individuals watching two males engaged in a fight. Police arrested Kem Garland, age 26, of Mount William Street, Port Jervis, and Torey Posey, age 36, of 100 Sekani Trail, Albrightsville, PA, and charged them with the violation of Disorderly Conduct.  Read more

On Friday November 28th, 2014 Wurtsboro Troopers arrested a Brant Lake woman for Driving While Intoxicated after she was involved in a motor vehicle accident.  Read more

Livingston Manor man arrested for DWI, marijuana

Roscoe Troopers conducted a traffic stop in Livingston Manor on Wednesday night. Upon interview of the driver, Frank Zayas, of Livingston Manor, it was discovered Zayas had a suspended driver’s license and was intoxicated.  Read more

Monticello man arrested after foot pursuit

Monticello Police arrested Trevor Sasso, age 31, of Monticello on Wednesday 11/19/14. Sasso was charged with Felony Assault in the 2nd Degree and Misdemeanors for Resisting Arrest and Obstructing Governmental Administration. Sasso was also wanted by New York State Parole as a Parole Absconder.  Read more

Man arrested in Ellenville for stealing credit card

The New York State Police at Ellenville arrested Daniel T Houck, 27 years old from Elmira, for Forgery 2nd, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4th and Falsifying Business Records 1st, all Felonys.

On March 10, 2014, the State Police at SP Ellenville initiated a investigation into the theft of a credit card. Further investigation revealed that Houck had been shoveling the driveway of an elderly woman and while at the residence he stole her credit card. Houck then used the stolen credit card fraudulently at Rite Aid in Ellenville.  Read more

Arrest in assault at CRMC

On Saturday November 15, 2014 Troopers from the Liberty State Police barracks were called to Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris to investigate an assault on hospital staff. The investigation determined that Cassandra Torres, age 35 of Monticello attacked and bit a nurse in the emergency room while she was being treated. The nurse sustained a bite wound to her hand and was treated at the hospital for same.  Read more

Liberty woman arrested for welfare fraud

On Thursday November 14th, 2014 State Police at Liberty, along with the Sullivan County Welfare Fraud Unit arrested Jocelyne Lopez age 23 of Liberty, NY after determining that she had applied for and obtained public assistance benefits that she was not entitled to. The investigation determined that Lopez filed false applications for various public services that allowed her to collect more than $12,000 in benefits that she otherwise would not have been entitled to.  Read more

Spring Glen man arrested for assaulting father

The New York State Police at Wurtsboro announce the arrest of Thomas P. Rebis, age 41, of Spring Glen NY for Assault 2nd, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd and Criminal Mischief 3rd, all felonies.  Read more

Livingston Manor man arrested for heroin

On November 4th, 2014 State Police at Liberty responded to a report of a domestic involving a gun at a residence in Livingston Manor. The investigation determined that Jose Ocasio, age 31 of Livingston Manor had threatened another occupant of the home with a loaded shotgun. While investigating the domestic incident, Troopers made observations that appeared to show that drugs were being sold from the home. A search warrant was obtained and narcotics including approximately 7 grams of unpackaged heroin were located. Also recovered were items commonly used in the drug trade including electronic scales and baggies. Four long guns were confiscated.  Read more

A man who pleaded guilty in 2009 to keeping his dead mother in a freezer, so he could cash her social security checks, has been arrested again.  Read more

The New York State Police at SP Wurtsboro announce the arrest of Teriann Van Winkle, age 32, of Wurtsboro NY for Grand Larceny, 4th, Attempted Grand Larcey 3rd, Forgery 2nd and Possession of a Forged Instrument 2nd, all felonies.  Read more

Swan Lake man arrested for assault

On Friday October 31, 2014 State Police at Liberty were called to an address on Stanton Corners Rd in the Town of Liberty for a reported assault. Investigation revealed that Clifford Gildersleeve, age 31 of Swan Lake was being served with eviction papers at his residence when he assaulted the person attempting to serve him.  Read more

An official from the Pennsylvania State Police released a statement at about 6:40 p.m., which said that after a seven week search, Eric Matthew Frein, the accused killer who is believed to have killed one officer and critically wounded another, has been apprehended.  Read more

Pike residents sentenced for heroin

Pike County District Attorney Raymond J. Tonkin announced that three individuals have been sentenced to state prison for drug dealing and related charges by Pike County Court of Common Pleas Judge Gregory Chelak. All three individuals were arrested by investigators from the Pike County District Attorney’s Office after investigations into heroin trafficking.  Read more

Narrowsburg brothers arrested

On Sunday evening, October 19, 2014 State Police at Liberty were called to a disturbance at a residence in the Town of Lumberland. Upon arrival, Troopers learned from the occupants that two men had forced their way into the home, displayed and threatened the use of a firearm and assaulted one of the occupants. Ten-year-old confesses to killing woman, 90

A 10-year-old boy has been arrested and charged with killing a 90-year- old woman. Officials charge that the boy put a cane around her throat and repeatedly struck the woman. The arrest was announced by Wayne County District Attorney Janine Edwards.  Read more

Loch Sheldrake man arrested for child rape

On September 26, 2014 State Police at Liberty and the Sullivan County Family Violence Response Team arrested Tyrone Chaneyfield, age 48 of Loch Sheldrake, NY for subjecting a child under the age of 13 to sexual contact over the course of a three year period.

Chaneyfield was charged with Rape in the First Degree and Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child in the First Degree, felonies. Chaneyfield was arraigned in the Village of Monticello Court and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail with no bail set.
