On June 16, the New York State Police at Ellenville announced the arrest of Rachel M. Amore, age 25, of Bloomingburg, NY, for the charges of burglary in the second degree, criminal possession of a controlled substance and possession of a hypodermic instrument.  Read more

On Wednesday June 12, 2013 at approximately 6:30 p.m., a passing motorist contacted the Sullivan County Sheriff's Patrol to report a suspicious male standing in front of a garage adjacent to a residence located at 521 Old Route 17 in Ferndale.  Read more

On June 12 the Honesdale Borough Police Department investigated a retail theft incident at Dave’s Super Duper Market on Willow Ave. Investigating officers viewed the stores security video surveillance footage.  Read more

Theft and possession of a controlled substance in Honesdale

On June 13, 2013 Honesdale Borough Police filed charges on Greg Edwards, age 35, from Honesdale. The charges of theft and possession of a controlled substance, both misdemeanors, stem from a theft that occurred at a residence on 14th Street.  Read more

Troopers arrest Montgomery man for drug possession

James W. Hoblin, 33, of Montgomery, NY was arrested June 12, 2013 at about 5:30 p.m. for possessing cocaine and hypodermic needles after the vehicle he was driving was stopped for V&T violations in the Town of Montgomery.  Read more

Narrowsburg man arrested for growing marijuana

On June 12, 2013 the New York State Police at Liberty arrested Vladimir Ignatenkov, age 38, of Narrowsburg, NY for the charge of Criminal Possession of Marijuana in the first degree and Unlawfully Growing Cannabis.  Read more

Fugitive from justice arrested in Honesdale

On May 31, 2013 at approximately 6 p.m., the Honesdale Borough Police stopped Joshua Requena, 35, of Honesdale for speeding.
Upon checking the status of Requena’s driver’s licenses it was found that he was wanted on three separate warrants out of Suffolk County NY. The warrants included charges consisting of two counts of criminal possession of a weapon, menacing and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.  Read more

Drug arrest at crash site in cemetery

On 05/28/2013 at approx., 7:45 p.m., while investigating an incident at St. John’s Cemetery, Honesdale Borough Police noticed the strong odor of marijuana emanating from a vehicle involved in the incident. The driver identified as Christina Benedict, age 19 of Honesdale was found to be in possession of the items that was located in the vehicle.  Read more

Aggravated assault and terroristic threats in Honesdale

On 05-31-2013 at 7:15 a.m., Honesdale Borough Police responded to the Wayne Memorial Hospital Emergency Department for a reported assault. An investigation revealed that 26 year old Thomas COFFIN was at Wayne Memorial Hospital’s Emergency Department and he was being uncooperative.  Read more

WILLIAM E. ACE, age 26 of Hawley, PA was sentenced to pay all Courts for one countof Harassment-Strike, Shove, Kick, graded as a Misdemeanor of the 3rd Degree. He was also ordered to pay a fine in the amount of $1,000.00. The incident occurred on
December 22,2012, in Hawley Borough when Ace struck a female victim causing injury.  Read more

On June 7, 2013 at approximately 9:00am, New York State Police at Liberty responded to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of State Route 55 and Ferndale-Loomis Rd in the Town of Liberty.  Read more

On June 8th, 2013, members of the New York State Police at SP Ellenville announce an arrest following a domestic dispute in the Town of Wawarsing, NY. Arrested was ALFONSO G. MARTINEZ, age 38, of 530 Irish Cape Rd, Napanoch, New York.  Read more

On June 9, The New York State Police at Wurtsboro announce the arrest of Kimberly Kroll, 42 years of age, of Bloomingburg, NY, for the misdemeanor charges of Assault in the third degree, Menacing in the second degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the fourth degree. This arrest was the result of an investigation into a reported domestic incident.  Read more

Undersheriff nabs burglar in Smallwood

On Monday June 3, 2013 at about 10:35 a.m., Sullivan County 911 polled for a burglary in progress on Strout Rd. in the Town of Bethel. Hearing that no units were available in the vicinity, Sullivan County Undersheriff Eric Chaboty, who was on his way to a meeting, responded to the call.  Read more

George Bowman Jr. was found to be operating a vehicle impaired by drugs after troopers responded to a 911 call for an unresponsive man behind the wheel.  Read more

Two Brooklyn men arrested for stealing donation jar

Monticello police arrested Isaiah Roberts, 22, and Keron Neils, 20, both of Brooklyn on June 1. Both defendants were charged with misdemeanor petit larceny.

On May 28 at approximately 7PM the defendants while acting in concert with each other stole a donation jar from the front counter of the “WENDY’S” restaurant located on pleasant street in the village of Monticello.  Read more

Youngsville man arrested for stolen credit card

On May 31 the Village of Liberty Police Department Detective Division arrested Jason Banks, 26 of Youngsville after an investigation into the fraudulent use of a stolen credit card.  Read more

Honesdale DUI arrest

On May 19th, 2013, at approximately 02:36 a.m., Honesdale Borough Police observed a vehicle driven by James Rosler, age 34, of Honesdale speeding on Sunrise Avenue. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle. ROSLER exhibited signs of being under the influence of alcohol and was arrested for DUI. Charges of DUI and speeding were filed and a court appearance is forthcoming.

On 05/31/2013 at approximately 10:15 a.m., a crash occurred on Church Street, in Honesdale Borough. A 2008 Volkswagen being operated by Joseph Juice, 39, of Honesdale, was traveling northbound when the vehicle he was operating left the roadway and collided with a legally parked 2003 Subaru.  Read more

Sullivan County Sheriff’s Deputies have arrested a maintenance worker at BOCES in Liberty for stealing students’ money. Justin M. Wood, 19, of Livingston Manor was charged Friday (5/31/13) after a month long investigation where a total of $155 dollars was taken from a locked box in a teacher’s desk.  Read more

Monticello parolee arrested for stealing credit card

Monticello police arrested Anthony J. Morelli (39) of Monticello on May 31. A few days earlier, Monticello police received a complaint from a Woodbourne woman that her purse had been stolen from a parked vehicle on Landfield Avenue after the car window had been smashed out.  Read more

Monticello police in conjunction with the Sullivan county welfare fraud investigation unit arrested Brendan W. Bellamy (41) of Monticello on Thursday 5/9/13. Bellamy was charged with felonies for grand larceny in the 4th degree, offering a false instrument for filing in the 1st degree and welfare fraud in the 4th degree.  Read more

Monticello police arrested three persons on Thursday 5/23/13 as part of an ongoing investigation into a reported gang assault upon a 36 year-old Monticello man that occurred on Wednesday 5/1/13 at 10:45 pm in a residence on high street in the village of Monticello.  Read more

Man arrested for smashing video gaming machine

Monticello police arrested Mark A. Soldo (42) of Jackson heights, NY on Saturday 5/25/13. Soldo was charged with felony criminal mischief in the 3rd degree. On Saturday 5/4/13 Soldo intentionally struck a VGM machine at the Monticello Casino and Raceway breaking the glass screen of the machine.  Read more

Armed confrontation with man who called terrorism hotline

On Sunday morning (5/19/13), at approximately 1:22 A.M., a woman telephoned the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office and advised that she had called the County’s Mobile Mental Health Team because her husband was becoming agitated and acting violent.

She requested that a Sheriff’s Patrol come to her house at 20 Haddock Rd. in the Town of Thompson and stand by until the Mental Health Team could arrive. When deputies arrived at the location they encountered the husband, John Ortiz, 43.  Read more

Wanted Liberty man charged with commercial burglary

At approximately 6:00am on May 10th, 2013 the Village of Liberty Police responded to a report of two suspicious men near a gas station on North Main Street in the Village of Liberty. A concerned citizen told police he saw two men wearing ski masks and bandanas asking people for money.  Read more

State Police in Liberty announce the arrest of Daniel PINERO, age 32, Fallsburg, NY, for Disseminating Indecent Material to a Minor in the first degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.  Read more

The New York State Police at Wurtsboro announced the arrest of WILLIAM JOY, age 29, of Bloomingburg, NY for Rape in the Third Degree (Felony), and Criminal Sexual Act in the Third Degree (Felony).  Read more

Stroudsburg man accues of burning patient with hot iron

30-year-old Christopher Lein of Stroudsburg, PA is accused of burning 53-year-old Anthony Hannah three times with a hot clothing iron, while Hanna was a resident at the Keystone Residential Facility in Gouldsboro, PA.

According to a press release from the Pennsylvania State Police at Honesdale, the incidents happened on December 30 and 31, 2012, and Hannah was burned on his stomach, back and shoulder. He sustained third-degree burns and required treatment at a trauma burn center.  Read more

Monticello police arrested John Whitlock (31) of Monticello on Tuesday 4/30/13. Monticello police charged Whitlock with misdemeanors for petit larceny, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 7th degree and criminally possessing a hypodermic instrument.  Read more

Hitch hiker arrested on Route 17 for drug possession

On April 15, 2013 A State Trooper stationed in Roscoe observed Joshua Space, age 31, of Windsor, NY walking on State Route 17 in the Town of Liberty. Space who was illegally hitch hiking on a State Highway failed to provide identification and was found to be in possession of Suboxone, a controlled substance.  Read more

On Wednesday May 1, 2013, at about 10:30 AM, the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office was called to WalMart in Monticello for a report of a theft of a 55 inch flat screen TV.  Read more
