DINGMANS FERRY, PA — The Pocono Environmental Education Center (PEEC), at 538 Emery Rd., has a number of events lined up over the next couple of weeks. Pre-registration is requested until otherwise noted.
Photography buffs can take a fall photography course with John Barclay, with a week-long option from October 12 through 16 or a weekend option from October 16 through 18. The former costs $750 for those who stay at PEEC, $700 on a commuter basis, the latter option costs $290 for those who need lodging, $240 on a commuter basis. Learn about exposure, composition and more. Geared towards DSLR type cameras. A tripod is recommended, but not required.
On Saturday, October 17 from 6 to 8 p.m. there will be a Nature at Night event. Take a walk in the woods to listen for owls, look at stars and hear the music of the night. Enjoy fun activities that test your night vision. Cost is $5.
On Sunday, October 18, the Ecozone Discovery Room will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. Cost is $2 per person. Climb into a bald eagle’s nest, crawl into a bat cave and dig in a fossil pit. Explore this indoor discovery room and enjoy hands-on exhibits on natural history, sustainability and the local environment. No registration required.
