GRAHAMSVILLE, NY — The Time and the Valleys Museum will host a talk by James Krul, executive director of the Catskill Fly Fishing Center and Museum, about the history and popularity of fly fishing in Sullivan County’s famous Catskill streams on Saturday, September 12 at 2 p.m.

An active fisherman and fly tyer since taking his first trout on a dry fly in 1975, Krul is a knowledgeable and noted source on every facet of fly fishing. A resource for many fly tying and fly fishing books, his articles appear regularly in Fly Tyer, Fly Fishing New England and The Mid Atlantic Fly Fishing Guide as well as other magazines and publications.

Krul also is president of Fly Fishing University and producer of “The World of Fly Fishing” and “The Arts of the Angler” shows. As an industry consultant, Krul provides fly tying and fly fishing clinics, escorted trips and slide presentations throughout the country.

The event is free of charge, and refreshments and museum admission are included. “This will also be one of the last chances to see the ‘Celebrating Catskill Waters: Past and Present’ exhibit, which features a section about fishing in the Catskills,” said museum director Donna Steffens.

The Time and the Valleys Museum is open September through November on weekends from 12 noon to 4 p.m. The research room is open on Thursdays from 1 to 4 p.m. and Sundays by appointment. Admission is by suggested donation of $5 for adults, $2 for children ages 6 to 16, and free for children under the age of six. On Thursday, Town of Neversink residents are invited to visit at no charge, and on the first Saturday of each month, Town of Denning residents are invited to visit at no charge.
