PAUPACK TOWNSHIP, PA — Lacawac Sanctuary recently received a $2,500 donation from Pennsylvania Power & Light (PPL), continuing the utility’s support for Lacawac’s involvement with preservation, education and research. The purpose of the gift is to pay for ongoing enhancements to Lacawac Sanctuary.
Lacawac is involved with major scientific aquatic and ecological research, which is being used for scientific studies on a national and international basis. In addition, the sanctuary provides hiking trails open to the public to enjoy nature. Previous donations by PPL underwrote the construction of a natural boreal bog boardwalk that leads to an observation deck overlooking Lake Lacawac.
“PPL is proud to partner with the Lacawac Sanctuary,” said Paul Canevari, regional affairs director for PPL. “We have a long history of working to make communities stronger for generations to come and this is certainly a great example of that.”
