HONESDALE, PA — The families of Calkins Creamery will hold the inaugural Herd the Curd 5k Run/Walk on Saturday, August 31 at Highland Farm, 288 Calkins Rd. The race begins at 9 a.m. with registration open at 7:30 a.m. Participants will run or walk through a 3.1 mile scenic race course on the farm. Herd the Curd 5K participants will receive Calkins Creamery cheese samples and Fox Ledge Spring Water following the race, with prizes award in various age divisions, male and female. The registration fee is $30.
All race proceeds will benefit the Michael J. Bryant Memorial Fund, established in 2008 in memory of the Calkins Creamery co-owner. Since reaching endowed status, the fund has awarded $5,300 to Wayne County residents with physical and developmental needs.
