LIBERTY, NY — Free identification services for all potential invasive species are offered by Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) Sullivan County. “Invasive species are plants, animals including insects, pathogens and parasites that spread quickly and cause harm to other species,” according to Presidential Executive Order 13112. Even though only one percent of new species introduced each year become invasive, the environmental damage caused has been estimated at $138 billion a year.
