HONESDALE, PA — At the Honesdale High School graduation ceremony on Saturday, June 9, honor student Devan George was awarded the first annual scholarship of The Lackawaxen River Conservancy.
In awarding the $500 scholarship to Devan, the Conservancy was impressed with her passion for the natural world, her outstanding academic credentials and extracurricular leadership roles, and her intention to pursue a career in an area related to environmental conservation. She will begin her studies at the University of New Hampshire in August.
The Conservancy anticipates awarding a scholarship each year to a graduating senior from a school within the Lackawaxen River watershed who intends to pursue a college degree in the area of environmental conservation.
