Fly fishing for women

ALTMAR, NY — Trout Unlimited will sponsor a fly-fishing seminar for women on June 2 and 3. The Salmon River Fish Hatchery in Altmar and the Salmon River will serve as the classrooms for this event.

The seminar is designed for women who are looking to learn or improve their fly-fishing skills. It will cover all topics from beginner to advanced.

Classes will begin at 8 a.m. both days, and breakfast and lunch are provided. The deadline for registration is May 19. The fee for one day is $25, for two days is $40. Students must be 18 years or older, and have a current NYS fishing license. Class size is limited to 20 students.

The seminar will be presented regardless of weather. Students should bring rain gear, sun block and bug repellant. Waders and/or hip boots are recommended. Fishing equipment will be provided, but anyone already having a good working fly rod should bring it.
