DINGMANS FERRY, PA — The Pocono Environmental Education Center (PEEC) will hold a series of courses and hikes in December. On Saturday, December 3, from 9 to 11 a.m., there will be an introduction to snow-shoeing, costing $10 per adult and $5 per child. On the same day, there will be a Winter Survival Hike led by Mike Dennis of Traditional Earth Skills, from 1 to 4 p.m., costing $10. Build a shelter, try your hand at fire making and learn other useful outdoor skills.
Introduction to snow-shoeing will be repeated on Saturday, December 10 from 12 noon to 3 p.m., followed by a Moonrise Hike from 5 to 7 p.m. that will be free.
On Saturday, December 17, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, there will be a free hibernation hike, to learn how different plants and animals survive the winter.
