Nurturing a downtown garden

Posted

Robert Zabady of Ellen Memorial Health Care Center, left, William Schweighofer of the Honesdale National Bank, Jack Batcher of Camp Umpy’s Bagels & Stuff and Batcher’s grandchildren Calvin and Melody Feustel pose in the garden that Ellen Memorial Health Care Center re-planted next to the Fred Miller Pavilion on Main Street several years ago. Camp Umpy’s Bagels and Stuff, located just down the street from the garden, took it upon themselves to pick up where the Himalayan Institute Main Street left off due to their recent closing, and is making sure this garden flourishes. The sign, erected by The Greater Honesdale Partnership (GHP) and donated by Hunt Signs, thanks the GHP members that have nurtured the garden.
