LIVINGSTON MANOR, NY — The Catskill Fly Fishing Center and Museum (CFFCM) will host a group of European, Japanese and American modern craftsmen who will gather to share the craft of traditional tackle making at Woodstick on Saturday, May 21 and Sunday, May 22 from 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
In addition to international guests, a group of selected vendors specializing in classic tackle will be on hand for demonstrations, answers and sales.
This event is in its second year, and will be joined by Hardy/Greys LTD to unveil the Hardy Bros. Cup and allow early entries in the first annual bamboo casting competition. This competition is open to everyone. Participants should bring a nine-foot or shorter bamboo rod to cast. A course will be set up, and you score points on two distance casts and one accuracy cast. Handicaps will be provided for lesser than eight-foot-long rods. There will be three opportunities to cast for competition, but you only get to do it once.
Competition will be Saturday, May 21 from 1 to 4:30 p.m., May 28 from 1 to 4 p.m. and August 6 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with a barbeque for all in attendance at the CFFCM Summerfest. Call 845/439-4810.
