DINGMANS FERRY, PA — The Pocono Environmental Education Center (PEEC), located at 538 Emery Rd., has several events coming up in April. It will hold its first farm-to-table dinner on Saturday, April 8, from 6 to 8 p.m.  The cost is $25. Pre-registration is required.

The program “Salamanders, Frogs and More!” will be held on Sunday, April 9 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Participants will explore nearby breeding pools for salamanders, frogs and egg masses. Nets and collection bins for gentle, up-close study will be provided. Wear boots and clothes that can get a little muddy or wet. The cost is $5 per person. Pre-registration is required.

Also on Sunday, the Ecozone Discovery Room will be open from 1 to 4 p.m., at a cost of $2 per person. Climb into a bald eagle’s nest, crawl into a bat cave, explore a beaver lodge and dig in a fossil pit. Explore this indoor discovery room and enjoy hands-on exhibits on natural history, sustainability and the local environment.

On Saturday, April 15 there will be a Bridge the Gap: Pond Explorers event from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, free, courtesty of funding from the William Penn Foundation. Explore the PEEC ponds with nets, and collect fish, macro-invertebrates, amphibians, and whatever else you find for up-close study. This is another event for which you should wear boots and plan on getting wet and muddy.
