Another idea of a ‘great America’

I happily—proudly—marched Saturday in the Port Jervis Sister March organized by the good folks at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.  And what a great experience it was! I met many truly thoughtful, caring people who share my concerns for our country under this new, regressive and repressive president.  I carried a home-made sign:  “A GREAT AMERICA starts with GREAT Education and GREAT healthcare for all!!”

It was a peaceful march with friendly and kind police escort, for which we were grateful. (I was impressed!) People poked their heads out of local businesses to give a thumbs up or waved hello from their cars, showing support for us, while others drove by, eyes fixed firmly, icily, ahead—evidently determined to be uninterested in our message.

But what a comfort to know there are so many in the greater community who share my feelings about these important matters—and who didn’t vote for the leader we’re stuck with for the next four years. God only knows how much damage he’s going to inflict, but he’s surely going for the maximum, right from the start!

I’m proud to have participated in this historic event—speaking out for what’s right. It was a wonderful moment for all of us.
