Daniel J. Schneider of Eldred, NY and formerly of Ozone Park, Queens, NY, a longtime resident of the area, passed away on Friday, February 7, 2014 at home. He was 57.

The son of the late Wilbur and Mary Schneider, he was born July 8, 1956 in Queens, NY. He was married to Maureen Wisnewcikas Schneider; she survives.

Daniel was retired from the Local Union 94, Operating Engineers.

Daniel was a member of Highland Lake Fire Dept., Secretary and past Lieutenant. He was also a member of Hudson Valley Vol. Fireman Association.

A family statement reads: “Danny was loved by all and will be dearly missed. Danny made people laugh, smile and always had a joke to share. He was always ready to lend a hand to whomever needed assistance. He was an able carpenter and Jack of all trades. He was dedicated to his wife, his dogs and to the Highland Lake Fire Department.”

Survivors include his wife Maureen; his daughter, Laurie Schneider; his son, Joseph Schneider; and his two brothers, Will Schneider and John Schneider.

Cremation will take place at Maple Hill Crematory, Archbald, PA.
