Charlotte H. Schroedel of Eldred, NY, a longtime resident, passed away on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at Orange Regional Medical Center, Middletown, NY. She was 87.

The daughter of the late Anthony and Christina Leavenworth Hirsch, she was born December 21, 1924 in Bronx, NY. Charlotte was the widow of Edwin W. Schroedel, who had passed away January 4, 2012. They were married for 57 years.

A family statement reads, “Charlotte was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was an avid sports fan. She enjoyed baseball, basketball and football and really got into the games, often times yelling at the TV. She loved her cats as they were special to her. She was an avid reader and spent many hours at the Sunshine Hall Free Library. She was a big part of our family and will be greatly missed.”

Survivors include her four sons, Rick and wife Glenda of Chesapeake VA, Tony of Alden, NY, Matt and wife Sherry of Endicott, NY, and Chuck of Hawley, PA; her two grandchildren Kelly Oliver and husband Tim of Gaithersburg, MD, and Ryan Schroedel of Endicott NY; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Charlotte is predeceased by brother Charles Hirsch and grandson Tyler Schroedel.

Funeral services were held December 1, 2012 at Harrison-Rasmussen Funeral Home, Barryville, NY. Rev. Linda Bohs officiated. Burial followed at Montoza Cemetery, Eldred, NY.
