Anita Marie (Lindemeyer) Lobisch, former resident of Barryville, NY for 25 years, passed away on January 25, 2013 at Fritz Reuter Retirement Home in North Bergen, NJ. She was 89.

The daughter of the late Rudolf and Marie Lindemeyer, she was born in Buxtehude, Germany on August 26, 1923. Anita was married to the late Walter G. Lobisch for 62 years. Walter passed away on June 21, 2008.

Flowers and gardening were Anita’s pride and joy. She loved sharing flowers and plants with her family and friends. She also enjoyed baking, cooking and sharing many of her German recipes. Her favorites included buttercake and her “famous” German potato salad.

Barryville was Anita and Walter’s dream come true, since it reminded them of Germany with pine-tree-covered woods overlooking the Delaware River. They built their home and gardens within the beauty of this landscape.

Anita was a member of St. Jacobi Lutheran Church in Shohola, PA. She was past president and treasurer of the St. Jacobi Ladies Aid Society as well as a past Council Member. She also was a member of the Port Jervis, NY German American Club and the Milford, PA Senior Citizens Club. Anita was a Lifetime Member of the Fritz Reuter Altenheim, North Bergen, NJ and a member of the Amt Lilienthaler Club of Fritz Reuter Altenheim serving as president and secretary for many years.

Anita is survived by her three sons, Gunther of Port Charlotte, FL; Rudolf and his wife Wyb of Workum, Holland and William and his wife Alison of Blairstown, NJ; and a daughter, Irene Suter and her husband Donald of Cutchogue, NY. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Michael, James, Zach, Christopher, Jonathan, Allison, Krysten and Matthew, and six great-grandchildren, Jackson, Tucker, Mason, Taylor, Everlin and Rowan. She is also survived by her brother, Klaus Rudolf and his wife Ilse Lindemeyer; and her sister Ilse Dubbels as well as nieces and nephews in Fredenbeck, Germany.

A memorial service for Anita will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 4 at the Fritz Reuter Altenheim chapel in North Bergen, NJ. On Sunday, May 5, a memorial service for both Anita and Walter will be held at 1 p.m. at the St. Jacobi Lutheran Church in Shohola.

A private burial will follow at Shohola Cemetery.
