Albert “Bucky” Schields

Albert “Bucky” Schields, a lifelong resident of Shohola, PA, passed away on Monday, December 17, 2012 at home with his family by his side. He was 77.

The son of the late Urban and Loretta Barth Schields, he was born on the family farm in Shohola on December 20, 1934.

Bucky was a self-employed partner of Breuer & Schields Carpentry. He also worked for Narrowsburg Lumber in Shohola. He was married for 56 years to Beatrice “Betty” Worzel Schields, who survives. He was past president and member of the following clubs: Shohola Vol. Fire Dept., Shohola Lions Club, Shohola Rod and Gun Club, and a member of Pike County Democrats. Bucky was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved to hunt/fish, play the spoons, and bowl. He was a well-known regular at Rohman’s Inn where he enjoyed his beer and the company of friends/family. He was a big part of our family and will greatly be missed.

Survivors include his wife Beatrice “Betty” Schields, his four children Melanie Astarita of Missouri, Keith Schields of Greensboro, NC, Laura Weber and her husband George of Shohola, PA and Hope Traver and her husband John of Shohola, PA; seven grandchildren, Dean and Preston Astarita, Brian and Christina Schields, Maranda Shauger, Kelsey Traver and Shawna Traver; his brother Irving “Red” Schields of Montana; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. Bucky is predeceased by his parents Urban and Loretta Schields, his brother Robert Schields, and his two grandsons Daniel and Douglas Traver.

Friends are invited to call on Friday, December 21, 2012 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Harrison Rasmussen Funeral Home 3412 SR97, Barryville, NY 12719.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 21, 2012 at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Rolf Buchmann will officiate. Burial of his remains will be in Schields Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
