Jessie May Townsend of Cochecton, NY, a business manager for Townsend Farm, died Sunday, March 18, 2012 at home. She was 91.
The daughter of George and Lena Hulse Neill, she was born December 11, 1920 in Bath, NY. Jessie was married to the late Elmer Townsend.
Survivors include her children Sharon Erdman and husband William of Cochecton, Wayne Townsend and wife Mary Alice of Farmington, NM, Laurie DePaolo and husband Carmine of New Castle, CO, Lisa Moran and husband, Thomas Jr. of Jeffersonville, NY; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her son Walter Townsend and his fianceé Denise Fischer; sister Carrie Nearing; and brother Walter Neill.
Graveside services and burial will be held Saturday, March 24 at Fosterdale Cemetery, Fosterdale, NY at 11 a.m.

Howard Schuchman of Damascus, PA, retired owner of the Cochecton General Store in Cochecton, NY, died Monday, March 19, 2012 at Geisinger Family Hospice in Scranton, PA. He was 77.
The son of Charles and Rhoda Reinish, he was born March 5, 1935 in Bronx, NY. He was married to Maria Indrieri Schuchman.
Howard was a member and former treasurer of the Cochecton Mens Club, member and former treasurer of Lake Huntington/Cochecton Fire Company and captain of the fire police, Supervisor for a Day program at Damascus School, chairman of the zoning board in Damascus, assistant scout master of Troop 1776 Merrick, Long Island and a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife; children Joseph Porcaro and wife Nancy, David Schuchman and wife Mary, Dennis Schuchman and wife Mary, Dennis Porcaro and wife Donna, Steven Schuchman and Gabrielle Dunnigan and husband Jed; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers Paul Schuchman and wife Judy and Barry Schuchman; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will be sitting Shiva at the home of Paul Schuchman on Wednesday, March 21, Thursday, March 22, Saturday, March 24 and Sunday, March 25 beginning at 7 p.m.
Services were on Wednesday, March 21 at Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home in Callicoon, NY. Rabbi Baruch Melman officiated. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery in Damascus.

Elizabeth Rozanski. (neé Furlong) of Beach Lake, PA peacefully passed away at Ellen Memorial Healthcare, Honesdale, PA, after an illness on Monday, March 12, 2012. She was 87.
Formerly of St John’s, Newfoundland, Canada, she was the youngest and last surviving child of the late Patrick and Florence Furlong. She enjoyed eating dinner out with her friends and working outside in her yard. She will be dearly missed.
Leaving to mourn in Newfoundland are nieces Florence Bugden and husband Frank, Ann Perry, Janet Sexton and husband Chris; nephews Randy Furlong and wife Linda, Rick Furlong and wife Carolann, of Ontario, Bobby Furlong and wife Kathleen and David of New York; and close friends Ruthann and Bob, Kevin and Ruth and family.
She is predeceased by her husband Casmir “Charlie” Rozanski in 1999; brothers Frank, Jim and Joe; and sisters Kathleen and Mary.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on March 16, 2012 at St. Francis Xavier R.C. Church, Narrowsburg, NY with Rev. William Scully O.F.M. officiating.
Burial was in Long Island National Cemetery, Farmington, NY.

Lillian F. McAnaney of Middletown, NY entered into eternal rest on Monday, March 12, 2012 at Elant at Goshen. She was 93.
The daughter of the late Fergus Alexander and Harriet Franke Renton, she was born December 5, 1918 in Brooklyn, NY. Lillian married Harry Phillip McAnaney on July 22, 1939.
Lillian was a woman of great faith. She was an active member of Seventh Day Adventist Church in Middletown where she served as a deaconess, belonged to the Friendship Club and worked on the Community Service Committee.
Lillian is survived by her daughter Karen Daly and husband William of Middletown; grandchildren Richard Lamanno and wife Christine of Babylon, NY, Robynn Bassler and husband Dennis of Sayerville, NY, Karyn Talmadge and her husband, George of Goshen, OH, Kellianne Freer and husband AJ of Narrowsburg, NY, Kimberly and Shawn Daly of Middletown, Kristi-Jo Radeboldt of Narrowsburg, Richard Radeboldt and wife Heather of Floral City, FL, William Daly Jr. and wife Susan and Daniel and Christy Daly, all of Middletown, Jodi Ianazzi of Bloomingburg, NY, Thomas Radeboldt of Williamsburg, VA, and Carol Radeboldt of Newport News, VA; 25 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her husband in 2004; her parents; siblings Francis A. Renton, Alice Coates-Greene, Ira H. Renton, Fergus A. Renton, Dorothy Fallon and George W. Renton; and daughter Maureen Carol Lamanno.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, March 15 at Seventh Day Adventist Church, Middletown, with Dr. Victor Dyman officiating. Cremation was private. Burial of ashes will take place in the family plot at a later date in Bloomingburg Rural Cemetery.

John Knoll of Lackawaxen, PA, a retired owner of a telecommunications company and longtime resident of the area, passed away on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at home. He was 80.
The son of the late Mike and Kate Giska Knoll, he was born March 16, 1931 in Brookfield, IL.
John was the widower of Joan Bruns Knoll, who passed away on November 26, 2009. They were married for 52 years.
John was a Korean conflict veteran, having served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the VFW and the Lackawaxen Fire Department.
A family statement reads, in part: “John was a loving father and grandfather. He enjoyed fishing, hunting the outdoors and his garden. He was a special person that cared about everyone. He will truly be missed.”
John is survived by his children Jean Corday and husband Richard of Collegeville, PA, Mike Knoll and wife Lisa of Lackawaxen, Susan Edwards and husband Dane of Hagerstown, MD and Daniel Knoll and wife Denise of Allentown, NJ; grandchildren Christy Livezy and husband Tom, Jason Corday, Ann Marie Knoll. Tyier Edwards. Frank Knoll, Casey Edwards, Kyle Edwards and Michael Knoll; and many nieces and nephews.
John is predeceased by six brothers and sisters.
Funeral services were held on Monday, March 19 at the Harrison Rasmussen Funeral Home, Barryville, NY.

Eleanor Virginia Cook, a hospitality specialist at the Villa Roma Resort in Callicoon, NY, died Monday, March 12, 2012 at Calvary Hospital, Bronx, New York. She was 85.
Daughter of the late Martin and Virginia Panarello Passante, she was born March 23, 1926, in New York City. She was the widow of William Allen Cook Jr.
Eleanor is survived by daughters Carol Cook and fiancé Brian Stauch of Callicoon and Virginia Michaels and husband Joel of Myrtle Beach, SC; grandchildren Tiffany and Melinda Cook, Joseph and Michelle Michaels, Deborah Weber Diaz and husband Stephen, Jason Robert Weber and wife Belinda, Erika, Brian Jr. and Thomas Stauch; four great-grandchildren; step daughter Rebecca Floyd and husband Rich; daughter-in-law Sharon Weber, her brother Martin Passante and wife Marion; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is also predeceased by two sons, Paul Weber and Robert Weber; and three cousins.
A funeral mass was held on Friday, March 16, 2012 at Holy Cross Church, Callicoon.
Burial was in Callicoon Cemetery.

Joey “AJ” Biccum of Montague, NJ and Port Jervis, NY, passed away Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at Bon Secours Community Hospital, Port Jervis. He was 58.
He was born on November 16, 1953 in Port Jervis, the son of Delbert and Alma Norris Biccum.
Joey was the owner of AJ Biccum Stables in Montague and was a past member of the Monticello Horseman’s Association. He was a social member of the Port Jervis Naval Ship and VFW 161. He was employed by Carpenters Union Local 279, Fishkill, NY.
A family statement reads, in part: “A proud father, devoted husband and loving son who always put his loved ones first. Joey was an avid gardener and a true outdoorsman. He was happiest in the kitchen with those around him enjoying his food. He was a wrestling coach for the Montague State Liners, and enjoyed traveling across the country with his sons. A man of witty humor, Joey was known to answer any question with a comedic metaphor. Joey inspired those around him to do great things. Joey was an amazing husband who had selfless love for his wife, Susan. Together they were the definition of happiness.”
AJ is survived by his wife Susan Smith Biccum at home; sons Joseph Biccum and wife Nicole of Virginia Beach, VA and Ryan Biccum at home; his parents of Montague; brothers Gary Biccum and his wife Debbie of Glen Spey, NY, David Biccum and wife Trudy of Matamoras, PA, and Daniel Biccum of Montague; mother-in-law Betty Smith of Port Jervis; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 17 at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, Inc., Port Jervis, with Rev. Nancy Vonderhorst officiating. Interment was private.

Alfred Philip “Al” Snedeker of Kenoza Lake, NY, a retired automobile mechanic, died Thursday, March 8, 2012 at home. He was 84.
The son of Frederick and Marie Schille Snedeker, Al was born in South Ozone Park, NY on April 11, 1927.
Alfred was past trustee of the Kenoza Lake Methodist Church, a former member of the Jeffersonville First Aid Squad, the Kenoza Lake Fire Department and a former Boy Scout leader of Troop 115. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Bernhardt Snedeker at home; sons Lyle Snedeker of Phoenix, AZ, Daniel Snedeker and wife Betty of Fosterdale, NY and Jon Snedeker and wife Kelly of Kenoza Lake; grandchildren Kevin Snedeker and wife Jamie Shawn Snedeker, Steven Snedeker, Stephanie Snedeker, Nicole Snedeker and Danielle Lyden and husband Gregg; sister Marie Levine of Signal Mountain, TN; sisters-in-law Mildred Snedeker of Fosterdale and Patricia Reinshagen of Grahamsville, NY; and nieces and nephews.

James Alan Bernhardt of Yulan, NY, retired chef, passed away on Sunday, March 11.
Jim was the son of Nettie Bolson of Spring Valley and Hellmuth Bernhardt, originally of Golma, Germany.
Jim’s mother and stepfather Vinton Davis were former owners of Vinton’s Restaurant in Shohola, PA and Florida.
He began his long career in the restaurant business prepping salads while standing on a milk crate at Vinton’s. Jim also enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and hunting, as well as sharing time and stories with family and friends.
He was retired from the Main Street Café in Narrowsburg, NY and previously from the Eldred Preserve in Eldred, NY. Many will remember him from Baker’s Tap Room II in Barryville, NY, which he (on an ad hoc basis) helped his long-time friend, Shane Pearson, to open.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 32 years, Barbara Frank Bernhardt; son James Frank Bernhardt of Renssalaer, NY; daughter Anna Lynne Bernhardt of Yulan; grandson Joseph James Bernhardt; sisters Susan Zimmerman and husband Geoff of Scottsdale, AZ and, Nancy Estes and husband Mark of Lake Wales, FL; brother Joey V. Davis; numerous nieces and nephews; and the many friends, who will remember him as “the go-to guy.”
Following cremation, a memorial was held on Wednesday, March 14, at the Harrison-Rasmussen Funeral Home in Barryville, NY.

Marie E. Ponds of Beach Grove, TN and a former long time resident of Glen Spey, NY, passed away Thursday, February 23, 2012 in Shelbyville, TN. She was 77.
Marie was born on December 13, 1934 in Brooklyn, the daughter of the late William and Ethel Davis Daw.
She was a retired clerk for the Port Jervis Grand Union. Marie was married to the late Warren L. Ponds, Sr.
A family statement reads in part: “Marie had a smile that would light up our lives and eyes as blue as the summer sky. She lived a full life of laughter and sorrow. We will forever feel the warmth of her unconditional love.”
She is survived by sons Warren L. Warren “Bud” H. Myers of Kenoza Lake, NY, a lifelong Sullivan County resident, formerly of Jeffersonville, NY, passed away on February 26, 2012 at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, NY. He was 87.
Bud was born in Kohlertown to Dr. Harvey W. and Hazel Miller Myers on October 11, 1924. He married Iola Schaefer Reum in 1946. Iola predeceased him in April 2006 after 59 years of marriage.
After high school graduation in 1943, he served in the U.S. Navy Armed Guard until the end of WWII. Bud and Iola built their home in Kohlertown and Bud took up dairy farming. He enjoyed playing basketball with the town team; also, traveling, camping, bowling, snowmobiling and golf. In later years, Bud loved to recall “Jeff” history with his daily morning coffee buddies. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Jeffersonville, The Jeffersonville Snowmobile Club and a Charter Member of the Russell Kenyon VFW Post #5808 of Callicoon, NY.
He is survived by children Gale Myers of Thornton, CO, Tracey I. Hellerer and husband Art of Jeffersonville and Lynn W. Myers and wife Liz, of Sacramento, CA; grandchildren Michele Hallenbeck of Broomfield, CO, Aaron Hellerer of Jeffersonville, Kelly Kiah of Centennial, CO and Andrew Girard of Chicago; six great-grandchildren; sister Lillian Loeffel of Fruit Heights, UT and brother-in-law Donald Krantz, of Callicoon.
He is also predeceased by sister-in-law Bernice Krantz; and brother-in-law Norman Loeffel.

Raymond “Bucky” Koferl of Narrowsburg, NY, a lifelong resident, a retired mechanic for Sullivan Co. DPW, school bus driver, and many other endeavors, passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at the home of his niece, Alice Foster and husband Doug Wyss. He was 86.
The son of the late Leonard and Pearl Skinner Koferl, he was born April 28, 1925 in Narrowsburg. He was an Army veteran, a member of the American Legion Post, Eldred, NY; and a past member of Beaver Brook Rod and Gun Club.
A family statement reads: “Bucky was an avid fisherman, loved to hunt, a real outdoorsman. He really enjoyed life in Sullivan County. He was most proud of the garden that he planted every year till he took ill. He will truly be missed.”
He is survived by his children, Catherine Alva, Lorraine Myers, Jon Koferl, Raymond Koferl and Joanna Smith; sisters Eleanor Edwards, Augusta DeGraw and Rose Gallagher; brothers Jimmy Koferl and Norman Koferl; and many nieces and nephews.

Elvin F. Goda of Washingtonville, NY passed away on Saturday, March 3, 2012 at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh, NY. He was 87.
Son of the late Jack and Mary Melchisky Goda, he was born in Ansonia, CT on June 13, 1924. He was the widower of Rose Marie Tomer Goda.
Elvin was a retired shipping and receiving clerk for Avon Products, Inc. in Suffern, NY. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during the Korean War.
Elvin is survived by his sons Mark Goda and wife Christine of Milanville, PA, John Goda and wife Debbie of Afton, NY; daughters Renee Mege and husband Dan of Port Jervis, NY, Laura Marshall and husband Rod Raymond of Wurtsboro, NY; sister Rita Cronk of Suffern,; 11 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He is also predeceased by his daughter, Patricia Carbaugh and her husband Robert.

Arthur Frank of Jeffersonville, NY passed away on Monday, February 27, 2012. He was 85.
Arthur was born February 20, 1927 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Barney and Beatrice Frank.
He spoke often of growing up in Brooklyn, riding the trolley cars, and going to the boardwalk with his father. As a young man, he raised homing pigeons.
He served in the U.S. Army from May 1945 to January 1947. He worked with the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier in Liberty, NY, and then as a civil service employee at Woodbourne Correctional Facility. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Jeffersonville and a lifetime member of the NRA.
He was married to Virginia Puerschner Frank, who predeceased him in 2004. They shared many interests: their pets, hunting and camping.
Arthur is survived by sister Elayne Zwiegel of Hallandale Beach, FL; niece, Monica Fowler and companion, Max Nickerson of Gainsville, FL; step-children Thomas Puerschner and wife Judy, Robert Puerschner and wife Sharon of Jeffersonville, NY and Patricia DePasquale and husband Frank of San Antonio, TX; 10 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 3 at the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home, Jeffersonville. Burial with Military Honors was made in the Jeffersonville Lutheran Cemetery.

Donald J. Consiglio of Barryville, NY, a lifetime area resident, passed away on Friday, February 24, 2012 at his home. He was 80.
Born on May 19, 1931 in East Rutherford, NJ, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mildred Riston Consiglio.
Donald was the owner-operator of Donald’s Refrigeration Service in Barryville. He was a member of Wilkes-Barre Society of the Deaf.
Survivors include his sons Donald J. Consiglio Jr. and companion, Deborah Hannigan of Barryville and Joseph R. Consiglio and wife Ruth of Highland Lake, NY; and grandchildren Maria Consiglio, Ronald Hujus, Larry Drake Jr. and Jessica Cutler.
His wife, Jeanette Hulse Consiglio, predeceased him in 1979.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 3 at Ramsay’s Funeral Home, Kauneonga Lake, NY, with Rev. Kenneth Rodgers officiating. Burial followed at Montoza Cemetery in Barryville.

Amy R. Cease, a resident at Stourbridge Square Apartments and formerly of Beach Lake, PA died Friday, March 2, 2012 at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale, PA. She was 70.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bruce Cease on October 12, 2005.
Born on April 21, 1941 in Spring Mills, PA, she was the daughter of Stephen Bush and the late Miriam Bush. She and her husband moved to Honesdale and owned and operated Bruce’s Halfway House. Before retiring, Amy was a real estate agent for Century 21 and ReMax in Honesdale.
After her husband died, Amy moved to the Stourbridge Square Apartments where she quickly made friends. Surviving are sons Stephen of Las Vegas, NV, James of Beach Lake and Thomas of Colver, PA; granddaughter Brook; brother Lester Kerstetter of Belvidere, NJ; companion Harold Gries of Damascus, PA, and father Stephen Bush of Bangor, PA.
Cremation was held at Maple Hill at Salem Crematory. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 8 at 6 p.m. at Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 4 to 6 p.m.

John J. Thomas of Glen Spey, NY passed away Monday, February 20, 2012 at the Middletown Park Manor, Middletown, NY. He was 75.
He was born on October 29, 1936 in Bayshore, NY, the son of the late Emil and Bridget Agnes McGevan Thomas.
John served during the Korean War with the U.S. Army. He was a retired transportation supervisor for the U.S. Postal System in New York City. John married Kathleen Fitzpatrick Thomas , who pre-deceased him in 1990.
He is survived by his brother James Thomas and wife, Carol of Orlando, FL; one son; two daughters; one niece; long time companion Donna Mann of Port Jervis, NY; and many close friends at the James C. Bilz American Legion Post #685 and the Roosa-Fleming V.F.W. #161, both of Port Jervis.
Memorial services with Military Honors were held Wednesday, February 29 at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, Port Jervis. Rev. Wayne Varga officiated.
