Barbara Maher of Hancock, NY and formerly a 30-year resident of Middletown, NY died on Saturday, October 29 at Orange Regional Medical Center. She was 65.

The youngest child of the late Melvin and Arlene Tarbox Sprague, she was born on August 8, 1946 in East Branch, NY. Barbara was a retired certified nursing assistant for Montgomery Nursing Home and the wife of the late Walter “Butch” J. Maher. Barbara was a member of the United Methodist Church in Hancock. She will be remembered by her loving family as an avid churchgoer who loved animals and enjoyed shopping for bargains.

She is survived by her children and their significant others, Wade and Jessica Watt of Middletown and Teresa and Christopher Fico of Lackawaxen, PA; sisters Idola Sheriden of Starlight, PA, Ruth S. Toth of Myrtle Beach, SC and Glorian Conklin of Livingston Manor, NY; and grandchildren Alisha Davis, Stefan Krajcovic, Raychale Smith and Joseph Smith II.

A funeral service was held on Thursday, November 3 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, Middletown, with the Reverends Roxy Moses and Charles Ryu officiating. Cremation was private at Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope, NY.
